I’m doing laundry when I here the phone ring.
“Hello Garner residence.”
“Kay Lynn thank havens your there.”
“What’s wrong mom?” I asked hearing pain in her voice.
“It’s your father he’s had a heart attack.” She told me while starting to cry.
“Is he okay? Did he make it?” I asked starting to cry myself.
“No he’s gone and I don’t know what I’ll do without him now.” She responded now completely breaking down and sobbing uncontrollably.
“Mom it’ll take sometime but eventually you’ll get over. I know how about me Kody and Scott come stay with you for a couple months and help you get your life back to normal?” I ask.
“You would do that for me?”
“Of course mom you know we all love you and would do this for you.”
“Thank you so muck Kay Lynn.”
“You’re welcome mom. We will be there in 5-weeks.”
“Okay bye honey thank you so much.”
“You’re welcome again bye.”
I hung up the phone and then I thought about how I was going to tell Kody. At that moment he walked in the door.
“Kody we need to talk.”
“Okay mom let me put my stuff done first.”
“Okay sweetie.”
“Done what do we need to talk about?”
“Well honey your grandfather died.”
“Oh no is grandma okay?”
“Not really that’s what I need to tell you, were moving out to Oregon to live with your grandmother.”
“WHAT?!? What about all my friends, my boy friend and band?”
“Honey I’m sorry you’ll get new friends and maybe another boyfriends and I’m sure there will be a marching band there.”
“But still it won’t be the same.”
“Kody you’ll get use to it I promise.”
“Okay, when are we moving?”
“Five weeks.”
“Whatever it doesn’t matter, don’t know why I bothered asking.”
With that said Kody ran up to his room.
