Chapter 49

Oh my holy motherfucking mother of fucking god shit fuck damn everyothercursewordthaticouldntthinkofrightnow.

I sat on the bed, unable to speak. What the three men in front of me had just done had sent me into shock. I had always known that Cullen and Patrick were different. I didn’t think that they were… well fucking vampires.

Vampires! I swear to god if they glittered too…

“We don’t glitter Emmbla. And we aren’t Vampires.” Patrick said, reading my thoughts as he made his way towards his closet and pulled out a clean shirt. His bloodied one had been discarded in the trash when his father and uncle had walked in and brought him back to life. How they did it though, that’s mostly what had me in shock, then what they confirmed after sent me into complete shock. My facial features turning to stone. Apparently though none of them seemed worried about it. His father just quickly telling Patrick that I’ll snap out of it soon.

They had fed him a bag of blood. Honest to god. One of the men rushed into the other room and came back with a small pack of blood, the kind that they have stored in hospitals. How did they not expect me to be in shock here!? I have lived all my life, growing up being told that vampires and werewolves and witches weren’t real. And I swear to god they weren’t. Maybe, maybe he was just some weird freak of a cannibal. Or he has a mental disorder, yeah the mental disorder sounds way more believable.

I swear the beautiful ones are always crazy.

“Emmbla.”

Snapping out of my thoughts, I glanced up and him and watched as he buttoned up his shirt and made his way towards me. Once he placed his knee on his bed, that’s when I jumped across the bed. His eyes wide, he stopped in mid movement and barked out a laugh. His uncle, across the room letting out a laugh as well.

“Stay the fuck away from me,” I warned as I crawled off the bed and placed my feet on the floor. Patrick smiled as he moved off the bed and stood across from me, with the bed in between us.

“Seriously?” he murmured. “You don’t believe a word that we have just said to you?”

Shaking my head I, bit-by-bit, made my way towards one of the windows. I had to think of an escape. There was no way that I was going to be holed up in an apartment with three crazy men that drank blood and thought they were vampires.

“Babe, everything that you have seen, and you still don’t believe that creatures like us walk the earth with you.”

I had seen a lot. I had seen more than a lot. When I had first stumbled across the two men that he lived with, before Cullen had taken a special interest in me, the scenes that I had saw when I had broken into the old warehouse. Stopping in my tracks I let myself remember the gruesome scenes that I had walked into that night.

People were hanging from hooks, blood running down their bodies into buckets that were placed at their feet. They had been harvesting the blood from the innocent people that they had stored in there. They were the people who had been abducted months, weeks, even days ago.

I remembered when I had first seen his uncle's hooking up a screaming woman and then slitting her throat, letting her blood spurt out and trail down her naked body. When they had seen me, their faces had morphed into something demonic. Their skin thinning over their skulls and their eyes started to glow. I was in too much shock to move, my mind was failing to comprehend what was going on. I couldn’t form a single thought, and when I finally did it was only one word, run. And oh boy did I. I ran as fast as my feet could take me only getting away from them because I almost got ran over by a police officer. At least that’s why I thought they quit chasing me.

Pressing my back against the chilly wall, I watched Patrick. He was gradually making his way towards me making my body involuntarily shake.

“Why did they let me go?” I spat, stopping Patrick in his tracks and getting the attention of his uncle and his father who had just walked into the room, glancing back at his family members and then back to me.

“Cullen said he would take care of it,” he said nonchalantly.

“Take care of it…” I repeated, slowly as if tasting the words as they slipped past my lips, trying to wrap my brain around the words that he had just told me. “What do you mean take care of it?”

“Kill you,” his uncle piped up. He had turned his attention to the flat screen television and had started flipping through the channels, trying to find something decent that was on.

“Kill me?” I gulped. “He was going to kill me?”

“Still supposed to,” his uncle piped up from the chair across the room.

I stared incredulously at the man as he kept clicking on the remote. I didn’t notice as Patrick closed in on me.

“Shut up,” he mumbled as he placed his arms around my shaking body.

I was supposed to be killed. By the one guy that I had finally decided to give myself too. This was almost too much. The thoughts slowly faded from my mind as Patrick’s hands folded around my waist, his eerie warmth calming me down. The shaking ceased as I melted into Patrick’s hard body. Cullen was supposed to kill me. Honestly that made sense, now that I thought about it all. All the running, all the hiding me and his actions when he first brought me to his massive house. That night his dad had told him to get rid of me, and he was just going to get rid of me. Instead he told me to leave, left me to walk home and then I got abducted by Patrick. Cullen kept coming back to get me because he was the one who was supposed to get rid of me. Not Patrick, not anyone else.

Actually, hold up.

Pushing my thoughts and Patrick away, I stared at him warily.

“Vampires are these things that are sparkly, and they are cold and they don’t like sunlight. You are warm. And you obviously don’t sparkle because I’ve seen both you and Cullen out in the sunlight.”

Grinning, Patrick pulled me towards him once again.

“There is so much to tell you. First of all, we aren’t Vampires. We are Demons.”
