‹ Prequel: Where's the Heart?

Love is a Two Way Street

Don't Tell me it's Over

"Nathan!" I yelled, walking to his room. After a month of feeling like I had been feeling, I wanted to know why. The door opened and I walked on in.

"What is it?" Nate asked, gesturing for me to sit down. I did.

"It's a bit embarrassing," I warned.

"I'm sure I'll understand," he promised. I sighed deeply, my face feeling on fire as I blushed like mad.

"Well, it's just that I've, um, been having some of these, uh, lust issues. Is that normal?"

"Probably. But do you mean around me? Or Edwin?"

"You: kinda. But Edwin: yeah, a lot."

"Well, he's the one who changed you, so you do have a bond with him. That's normal, though, considering he is a guy and you're a girl, and you did like him before being changed, so the feeling switched from human feelings to vampire ones, if it makes sense. But how strong is this feeling?" He couldn't make it any easier, could he?

"Uh...Really strong. Every little thing he does seems to make me feel like that. Like when he nips at my neck, I'm so close to losing it. Or like when he traces circles on my back, I get damn near stripping him!"

"Oh, wow. No kidding. That is pretty strong. I think Edwin knows this effect he has on you. He can still read your mind, after all, since you're bonded to him. I think he's trying to make you feel this way so you'll sleep with him. He is good at seducing women, I'll give him that."

"Damn, so I'm doomed?"

"Just try to stay away from him as much as possible, okay?"

"I'll try." I stood up. "Thanks." I left, closing the door behind me. I was immediately pulled into someone's arms.

"Hello, Jade," Edwin purred quietly in my ear. It sent shivers up my spine, but they weren't bad shivers...

"Hi," I squeaked, clenching my fists at my sides.

"Relax," he told me, and I obeyed. "You're way too tens, my dear. Way. Too. Tense."

"Yeah? I feel tense, too," I whispered, breathing heavily as he kissed my neck.

"I know that, love. But you've no reason to be." He picked me up and carried me back into our room. So much for avoiding him.

I groaned as soon as he set me down--I had seen was wasn't wearing a shirt, but he was wearing pants: very tight pants. You could see everything. Edwin chuckled, pulling me onto his lap.

"I could take off the pants, if you want."

"No," I forced out. It had been very hard just to say that! "I like the pants." So that one had slipped.

"I bet you do. So tell me, how hard is it not to strip down right now?" he purred in my ear, rubbing my leg. I gulped.

"Very. But I'm being a good girl."

"That won't work--I like bad girls. Jade, I want you so bad."

I swallowed again. "Yeah."

"Loosen up. We can solve your lusting right now," he told me, gripping the bottom of my skirt and tugging it down.

Oh, thank God for Nate saving me. If he hadn't come in then...

That would have been very, very bad.
