Away from the Sun

Riku and I followed the dark queen Maleficent down a series of dark hallways. The small glowing orb sitting upon Malli's staff lightly lilted the halls, but the dimming darkness still seemed to make shivers run up my spine. I tried to ignore them, I mean.. I am supposed to be this 'beholder of darkness', but you can't do much to the darkness when it literally scares the shit outta you.

I looked up to the dark queen before me, and spoke up.

"Uhm--"

"Yes, Lillith?" she asked, as if she knew the whole time I was going to ask a question of her. My pace slowed down a bit at her sudden answer to me, but I sped up as I asked my question.

"Uhm...well.. Miss. Maleficent.. If me and Riku are going to be going to Wonderland.. won't we need a weapon?"

"That is already being taken care of, Lillith dear." she said, now walking into a large circular room with a large window. Me and Riku shared a glance, both of us confused by her words, but followed her. The room reminded me so much of the movie Sleeping Beauty, as there were vines and thorns coming in through the window.

I heard Maleficent call us both over, but I ignored her words, and looked out over the window. A strange smile couldn't help but appear on my lips. I have always, for some morbid reason, loved the look of throne bushes since I was young. Maybe it was the little voice in the back of my head telling me to jump inside, and see what it feels like. (of course, I never did. The Cowardly Lion inside me prevented such acts)

But, before my eyes, I saw what appeared to be just a vast ocean of thorns. The voice inside my head spoke up. Telling me "Comon....Jump! It'll be just like when Simba jumps into the thrones in Lion King!!" But, luckily a voice tore me from these thoughts.

"Lillith, when I am speaking to you, you acknowledge me." the Queen said in a stern voice. I made a small wince, and walked over by Riku, leaving the thorny-window. The Queen sat in a large chair, and me and Riku stood before her. "To ensure your safety, and the completion of the missions you are both on, you will be appointed weapons (I couldn't help but smile at this). Both are very powerful, and molded to your precise abilities and structures.---"

She went on for a bit about how the weapons will match us, but I think my A.D.D kicked in, because I soon drowned her out with my internal radio, and begun to mentally sing some Panic! at the Disco songs.

"---and I trust that you take very good care of the weapons. They are made by some of our... best allies." She ended, with a small smirk. I didn't really care.. I just wanted my weapon!! I looked over to Riku, and saw the same look of anticipation as I had on, and I could tell he was excited as well. We both looked at the Queen, waiting for our new weapons, and she just smirked. With a wave of our hand, there was a purple glow in front of Riku.

Before him we both saw the outline of what seemed to be a large bat wing. Then, within a few seconds, we saw the weapon come to life. Of course, I knew what this was. Riku's "BatWing" keyblade. It was cool, yes, but I had seen it 1000's of times, and had very little interest in it. Though, Riku seemed very enlighten with his new item, and swished it around a few times. I still smiled, glad he was happy with his weapon.

I directed my eyes upon Maleficent, waiting now for my weapon. I could tell she new I was excited, because I saw her, again, give me that knowing smirk. Like before, Maleficent waved her hand, and I saw a glow before me. It looked weird at first, but then again, I only saw the outline. It almost looked like, yet another, batwing keyblade. But, as color came to it, and it came to life, I could see it was a tad different.

The hilt of the keyblade was rounded like a crescent moon. Six rubies were encrusted into the crescent shape, three on each side. From the crescent spawned a large demonic wing, which stretched over the main part of the Keyblade. The tip was another, smaller, crescent moon. Again, six rubies, three on each side. From the tips of the crescent came two demon wings, completing the "tooth" part of the Keyblade.

I held it in my hand, and -like Riku- swished it around within my reach. It was light. A lot lighter then I had expected. I smiled at the way it fit my grip, and actually couldn't wait to beat some ass with this.

(Inside my head, I imaged the words "New Item Obtained! Crescent-Ruby Keblade!". I inwardly laughed at my little pun)

Both me and Riku looked to Malli, both of us proud of our new weapons. She nodded to us, and stood.

"You will be leaving now" she said, rather flatly. "I will send a ship to Wonderland when you are done with your mission". As she said this, a rather obvious question popped into my head.

"Uhm--"
"Yes, Lillith. Your mission is to make sure that keybarer does not seal up the world's keyhole. Do whatever you can to make sure that they do not succeed in their own little missions" She said, with that evil all-knowing tone of hers. I gave a face, rather like the emoticon " -_-.... ", and nodded my head. 'She knew what I was thinking'...

"Can we leave now?" I heard Riku say beside me. I jumped a small bit. It was the first time I had heard him speak up since we got here. I guess he was still a little steamed about our fight earlier. I don't blame him.. 'maybe I should try and make up during this trip...'

Malli nodded to us. "Like I said, you are leaving now" She stood up, and waved her hand. A Dark Portal opened behind us. I winced a bit at the portal.. I didn't like them all to much. But, just as before, both me and Riku felt a cold lanky hand on our shoulders, and a quick shove, as we both were pushed into the portal in front of us.

I didn't see much, the portal was dark. I remember seeing a flash of something though. Pink I think. Pink and Purple. And then a strange feeling on comfort.

The room was dim.. too dim. A since of panic overcame me, and I flew up, knowing I was in some dark room. I felt a hand on my shoulder, and jumped again, facing whatever monster that came to 'eat me'.

"..... your way to jumpy.." I heard a familiar voice say. I sighed in relief.. Riku.

".. sorry" I said, rubbing my shoulder, making the goosebumbs go down. "I.. watch way to many horror movies.."

"Yea.. I can see.." he said, still sounded rather annoyed. I just looked down, completely confused on where we were, and not wanting to make Riku any more mad at me.

There was an awkward silence for about ten minutes between us. You know, the ones where your afraid to even sniff, because all attention would be focused on you. Where you were even afraid to make the slightest move, noise, sound. Let alone it was dark, which didn't help the situatio--

"You passed out, you know" Riku's voice took me from my thoughts, and made me jump a small bit. I tilted my head, and looked to him.

"Passed.... out? Me? I have never pas--"

"Well you did"

"When?" I asked.

"About 20 minutes ago. Out by some weird rose garden" Riku said.

"Oh.....Then.. How did we get here?"

"I carried you"

A blush couldn't help but pass onto my cheeks, and I was, for once, thankful for the darkness around us. I let out a very small "oh... thank you.." but I don't think Riku had heard me, because he didn't answer me.

Mentally, I cursed myself. I knew he was still mad at me from earlier at that stupid ball party thing. I knew I should apologize... so I guessed that this time was as good as any. Taking a deep breath, I opened my mouth to speak.

"Riku... About earlier, I--"

"Shh!"

I blinked a few times at how he, pretty much, just told me to shut up. A little anger was building up, and I was about to lash out. That is, until I felt his hand on my mouth.

"Someone is coming.." he said, and looked up. I did as well, still blushing at the fact that his hand was over my mouth. It took a second for me to catch what was happening, but after a second, I saw that something... or someone was walking.. on the ceiling!!.

It was in that second that I realized what house we were in. I was horrible with the names of places, but I knew that this was that room with the lightable lamps on the ceiling. And.. the people on the ceiling now.. must be--

The lights quickly came on, and I winced my eyes at the sudden light. It was dim, but still bright. I looked up, hoping not to see who I thought I was going to see... but of course, my eyes fell upon the face of Emmy... And of course, she was with Sora and that idiotic duck and dog... thing.

I felt Riku get up, and he pulled me up with him. His hand was still on my mouth, as if he was afraid I would call out to them (though, A part of me was screaming out for me to do so, but I ignored it). Slowly, he started to walk us away, but at that very moment, Emmy's eye's looked our way. And, but the look on her face, I knew she knew it was us. I heard Riku say a curse out loud, and then we were both suddenly engulfed by some black smoke.

There was a sudden blast of light, and we both cringed at the sudden brightness. For some reason, we just teleported ourselves outside. We both looked at our surroundings, and then looked at each other confused. We were in some sort of... giant garden.

"Did you-" I started

"Teleport?" Riku finished. I nodded my head, and I watched him shrug.

"I.. I don't know..." he said, "I just wanted us to be outside, out of danger, and it just... happened." He sounded just as confused as I was.

Stupid Maleficent. Sending us on missions when we don't even know what the hell we are doing...

Riku spoke up again. "You remember Maleficent saying something about 'all the dark powers of our dreams', right?" he asked. "Maybe that was what she meant..."

I shrugged at his words, and walked over to a flower. It was a bright yellow rose. It was smaller then the rest, maybe only about 4 feet tall (most of them where pretty much 4 stories high!). A baby, I guessed. "If we have power over darkness" I said, placing a hand on the flower. "Then we could easily turn this flower bla--"

About as soon as the words came from my mouth, the yellow rose slowly turned black. Almost in a burning motion. I blinked a few times, before I realized what I had done.. and I wasn't even sure what that was!

"Did you--" Riku started.

"Turn it blank?" I finished.

He nodded, and came my way to touch the flower. It was as smooth as silk, just as before. Both of us stared at the flower, dumbfounded, for a few minutes. But, then, we both looked at each other, and smirked.

We probably spent an hour or more turning random flowers, rocks, and such into different colors. I even blew a rock in two, and Riku found a way to make some weeds rip from the ground, and levitate. Basically, we were having fun, and just screwing around with our random new powers. (and we haven't even used the Keyblades yet!). But after awhile, after every flower, rock, pebble, and weed was destroyed, we were left with nothing to do.

"Well... that was fun, and yet completely a waste of time." I said, picking up a black rock, and throwing it at the wall. It smashed, and I smiled as some munny came from it. I picked it up, and showed it to Riku.

"....What's that?" he asked. I just shrugged.

"Money, probably. Or some gems... not sure, but they have to be worth something." I said, shoving them into my pocket. Riku just nodded at my words.

I gave a sigh.. I was already bored here.. We should probably get started on our evil mission. So I decided to mention it.

"So--"

"We should probably get started on this mission" Riku said, beating me to it. I just nodded my head.

"Let's backtrack" he said. "We have to find something soon, and when we do, we'll wait for Sora and the others to show up." His plan was easy, but that's the way I liked things, so I nodded again. I watched as Riku started to walk away from the large garden, and over to some door.(Which, I knew led to the Queens Rose Garden, But shhhhh, that was a secret.).

We found our way to the rose garden, and climbed up onto the hedges. We were over-looking some court place, and we both decided to wait here for Sora and Emmy to arrive. Riku spent most of his time looking out for some sort of movement, and I spent my time trying to nap. I wasn't getting much avail, until I pulled my hood over my eyes. 'ahhhhhhh,' i thought, 'just enough darkness to sleep'. And with that, I drifted away into some ''gentile dreamland''.

Though, it didn't last long. I felt Riku shaking me, and I groggily open my eyes. I turned my self over (careful not to fall off the high hedge), and looked down into a full court room. I blinked a few times, not knowing what was happening. But it all hit me when I saw a certain person sitting in the cage where Alice was supposed to be.

It was EMMY!

I bolted upright, and almost lost my balance. I looked to Riku, and he looked kind of amused that I missed half the battle. I gave him a small glare.

"Well?!" I whispered, angrily. "What the hell happened?! What did I miss?!?!" there was a bit of hiss in my voice, but I only saw Riku smirk. 'Great.. ANOTHER person who find my anger humorous.' I sighed, and crossed my arms.

"There was this blonde girl" Riku said, deciding to actually tell me. I looked to him. "That fat "queen" down there accused her of stealing something, and ordered her to be be-headed. But that hot-headed girl there - the one in the cage - decided to speak her thoughts. Called the Queen a bunch of names... very funny actually (I smiled inwardly at this. Emmy has always been famous for her short fuse). So the Queen went crazy, and decided to be-head her instead."

My face went pale at this. 'shiit....' I thought, looking to the small golden cage with Emmy inside. I couldn't let this happen.. we might be enemies now, but death it a little on the.. savage side. I got up, and sighed.

Riku looked up at me. "... what are you thinking on doing?" he asked me. But I didn't answer him, I just jumped down from the hedge, and away from the court.

I ran as far as I could, so that Riku thought I had ran far, and then backtracked back to the court. I found a different hiding space, and waited until no one was looking. I had to save Emmy. Somehow...

The Queen screamed some things at Sora, and I saw a lot of guards come out. I guess they were gonna battle... But, as I looked to the cage, I saw that they had covered it with a vail. This was my chance!! Concentrating on where I wanted to be, I let a little of my magic out, and felt myself be pulled into a poof of black smoke.

I appeared in the more shadowed area of the cage, and I looked to a freaked out Emmy. She probably didn't recognize me..

"Now Ember.." I said, my voice sounding maybe a bit to dark. "Don't you recognize me? Hmm?" I stepped more into the lighted area of the cage, and her face lighted up as she saw my face.

"Eris!!" She screamed, and quickly hugged me. "Oh my God... Eris it's you!!" She was using my old name.. My name from the previous world. It hurt me to do so, but I put my hands on her shoulder, and pushed her away. The second I saw the hurt look on her face, I turned around. I couldn't look at her like that. But, as I did, my eyes fell upon the lock in front of me...

"Eris... " she said, sounding hurt as well. "Eris, where have you been?!" Quickly, I swiped my hand across the lock, and smiled as a small bit of darkness unlocked it. I turned to her, and tried to keep my voice calm.

"Emmy.. or should I say "Sirius"," I said, using her own made up name, "You know where I have been." She thought for a second, before she spoke up.

"Wait... Eris, your with Riku, aren't you?!" I nodded to her, and took a step closer.

"And you know what is to happen in the end, don't you, Emmy?" I, again, saw the heartbroken look on her face, but I tried to ignore it. "Just like the game before, we are going to face each other. We are going to have to fight. Each other. It's going to be a long long time before we get home-"

"Eris!" Emmy said to me, a look of shock on her face. "L... Look at you!! The darkness is already taking control of you!! You can't let the--"

I growled at her. "NO!!" I yelled, making the cage shake a bit. Emmy looked a bit scared at my outburst, but part of me believed it must have been done. She had no right to say such things... She had NO idea what this darkness felt like! I wasn't in pain, like I was in the real world. I felt content, and happy!! But her..! She had NO idea! She runs around all day with some shrimp in a jumpsuit, bonking heartless on the head!! She had the easy job!! She... She...

She was looking at me with such hurt eyes... Again, I had to look away. "You.. You don't understand, Emmy..." I said, "I know you love it here as much as I do... I know..... I know how much you love Sora, and you know how I feel about Riku.. So why do you want to leave?!" I looked at her again, and saw her on the verge of tears.

".....Why... Why, Eris? Why would you give up everything?! Why would you rather have some powers and some boy, then keep our friendshi--"

"BECAUSE WE ARE NO LONGER FRIENDS" I yelled, way to harsh then I wanted it to sound. She looked at me again with the most hurt look I had ever seen on her face. The very look made my heart drop into my stomach, but I just looked aside.

"We are enemies now, Em--.. Sirius. You best get used to the idea soon, because when the time comes for us to fight till the end, I'm not going easy on you." And with that said, I teleported my self from the cage, and behind a hedge bush.

I collapsed to my knees, and covered my ears with my hands. I could still hear the faint words coming from Emmy, asking me to come back, but I had to ignore her. But, after awhile, I soon heard the opening of the cage... she must have found that I unlocked it..

"..Thank you, Eris..." I heard her say aloud, and at her words, tears couldn't help but stream down my face. Once again, I cupped my hands around my ears, and muttered the only thing that was repeating over and over again in my head.

"Im so sorry...."
