You Don't Know A Thing About My Sins

55

It’s been three months since Charlie got here.

After about a week I found out that Mark say staying with her parents whilst she was here.

She had told him that he was coming over to visit his grandparents and she would come back in a little while to take him home.

It killed me when I first found that out, see her parents house – yeah parents not uncles – is a block away from mine, that meant that my son was a block away and I couldn’t see or speak to him.

But when I got clean and I wasn’t having withdrawals, she brought him straight round.

And we’re a proper family again; Charlie and I are engaged to be married…..again….and things have never seemed better.

As Charlie and I lay in bed one night I couldn’t help but think about what to get her for her birthday, it was our anniversary as well, and we decided even though we technically broke up, we wanted to keep our anniversary the same day.

“Charlie?”

“Mmm?”

“What do you want for your birthday?” I asked.

“A repeat of tonight?” she giggled snuggling up closer into my bare chest.

I couldn’t help but laugh too.

“I’m serious; it’s your birthday and our anniversary, I want to get you something special this year.” I said putting on my serious voice.

“You are special Gerard,” she whispered to me, her hot breath on my skin sending a shiver up my spine.

“So are you,” I whispered back.

“Mmm, sure, now go to sleep,” she yawned.

But I wasn’t going to let what she said go that easily.

“You are special!” I pressed.

“Yeah a special case!” she giggled kissing me softly on the lips.

I couldn’t help but get lost in a state of bliss, meaning I completely forgot about our little argument, till Charlie’s cell rang that is.

“Leave it,” I mumbled against her lips.

“You know I can’t,” she sighed getting up only to have me pull her back down and lay on top of her.

“Yeah you can,” I grinned, trapping her.

She laughed and puckered her lips, inviting me to kiss her again.
“I’ll kiss you on one condition.”
“And what is that Mr Way?”
“That you agree you’re special.”
“What if I agree that I’m special to you?” she bargained.
“Fine. Deal.” I laughed.
I had missed this, so much.

We found out today that we are going on tour.
I instantly said no, I had just got Charlie and our son back, I was not about to leave them anytime soon.
But somehow everyone, including Charlie convinced me to go.
On the upside thought we filed for me to become Mark’s adopted father. Charlie said she would just get me added to the birth certificate but we talked about it and we don’t want to lie to him, instead we will just make sure he knows that even thought his biological dad, or sperm donor as we refer to him as, was a jackass, I loved him so much that I made him mine.

A week after filing the papers going through all the checks and the interviews we finally got the letter through confirming our request had been granted, so that morning we went to the adoption centre and made everything legal. So I’m now legally Marks dad, which feels fucking fantastic!

We had to leave for tour two days after and it was very emotional for all of us.

After just a month of being away I missed her and Mark so badly it was unreal.

I felt like there was a piece of me missing not having them with me.

She enrolled him in kinder garden last week so he could make friends and stuff; I wish I could have been there to see it. I did cheer up slightly though when they called me and I found out that he had told me everything on the phone before telling her, he refused to say anything about his day till I could hear it.

It’s now been six months since tour started; in two days we fly home and I cannot fucking wait. I had managed to get back home during tour, but a week out of six months just wasn’t enough.
We finally landed in Newark and I practically ran off the plane and into the airport, everything seemed to be taking so god damn long! I didn’t know if it was just because I was extra impatient today or if they had the slowest possible staff on but I swear it’s never taken me this long to get out of the airport before.

Finally we were outside; Frank took in a huge breath and sighed.
“You can’t beat Jersey air.”
I laughed at him and flagged down a cab.
I said goodbye to my band mates and Frank and I got into the cab to start the journey home.
We finally got home and I ran through the door to be greeted by an empty house and bitter disappointment. Looking at the clock I realised Charlie would be picking Mark up from her parents tonight.
Frank walked past me and patted me on the back before heading to the kitchen, I heard him put the coffee maker on so I quickly followed him.
I was about to make a fresh pot when I heard talking outside so I rushed to the door and swung it open, I startled them both but then we were all grinning and hugging.
I pulled away from Charlie only to get the shock of my life.

“Hello Gerard, or should I say daddy?”
