Holding Back a Wallflower

up and gone.

We had moved the spring of kindergarten. Our landlord had told us his daughter had wanted to raise her family in that house, and asked my parents if they could move out. They agreed to, and found a house to buy after only a few months of searching. We were up and gone by April.

The house was huge in my five and a half year-old eyes. There were three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a room off the garage, a space for my mother’s home office, a living room, a kitchen and dining area, and a playroom for my stepbrother and I.

I didn’t want my room at first, because it wasn’t like my old one, but now, looking back at it, I feel grateful. My room was technically two rooms attached by and arch. My toy kitchen and toy box were kept in the back room, until I redid my room and got my first computer.

Now, I’m just happy for the privacy.

Back then, all the room meant was a really soft carpet and room for more stuffed animals.
