Sequel: Alone This Holiday

Better Man

Chapter Eighteen

"C'mon, Scotty, school time," I gently shook my sleeping son. As he woke up slowly I heard him groan then stretch.

"Do I have to?" He asked, sitting up and rubbing his eye.

"Yes. Now, breakfast is ready," I turned on the ball of my foot, and went back to the kitchen in time to see Brian serving the eggs on the plate. "Hey, Babe,"

"Morning," He gave me a kiss on the cheek and put the hot pan on the stove, where the boys couldn't touch it. "Sleep well?"

"Yeah. You?" I knew the answer, I didn't need to ask. But I hoped that he was getting sleep. He hasn't been sleeping, or eating right, since he was kicked out of the band. It'd been two months, and now I was worried about him. But everytime I tried to talk to him about it, he mearly told me to stop stressing, that it wasn't good for the babies.

"Alright, I guess," He sighed, sitting down next to the high chair where Aedan was trying to eat his toast that was cut up into little pieces for him. "Morning, Sleepyhead," Scotty trudged out, looking a little more enthusiastic, but nonetheless not wanting to go to school.

Brian took Scotty to school, and took Aedan grocery shopping, while I stayed home and watched DVD's. I was on strict bed rest, so had to settle for watching lots of Dr Phil, trashy cooking shows, and whatever DVD's I could find around the house.

But I stumbled across an old home video, that I pushed into the video player.

"...Brian, what are you doing? I asked, as he zoomed on my face. I continued to read the magazine, as he chuckled and turned it to himself.

"Someone is a little cranky today," He grinned, and turned it back to me. "Aren't you?" He teased.

"No I'm not," I whined, slamming the magazine down. "It's your fault, either way,"

"Oh is it?" He mused. "Would you care to explain how?"

"You didn't use the damn condom," I hissed, pulling myself to my feet.

I remembered this film, I'd been sent home from the hospital because they didn't think I was actually in labour. But I begged to differ.

"Fuck this hurts," I hissed, sitting back down. Then sinking off the chair, and onto the floor; Brian moved beside me, still filming.

"Maybe you're actually having a baby," He teased, then I heard the soft footsteps of Zacky walking towards Brian.

"She okay?" Brian turned the camera to my brother, who raised his eyebrow. "And if you say she isn't I'll kick your arse,"

"Why?"

"Cause you didn't use the condom, so therefore responsible for the pain she is in and-"

"Fucking hell, I think my water broke!" I yelled, the camera shot to me. Zacky helped me to my feet where the carpet where I was sitting was now kinda gross.

"Call an ambulance!" Brian yelled, possibly to Jimmy.

"Why?" Johnny asked, running in. "Ew," He muttered seeing the carpet.

"Here hold this," Brian shoved the camera and the camera made a few odd sounds.

"Um, there's been a car crash. They're not gonna make it for a few hours," Jimmy called, from the kitchen.

"What?" I yelled. "But the baby isn't gonna wait," I sobbed as a contraction rolled around.

"What do we do?" Zacky asked, lowering me to the floor where it was more comfortable.

"We have to, oh my god, deliver it. I guess?" Brian hesitated at Johnny's suggestion. "I mean, it's not gonna wait,"

"Um, okay. Anyone know what to do?" The sound kinda went quiet, all that could be heard was my wimpering and Jimmy walking into the room. "Johnny turn the camera off..."

I remembered so easily Brian delivering Scotty, Zacky holding my hand the whole time, Johnny and Jimmy kinda being in an awkward spot and Matt turning up a few minutes later, unaware of what'd happened, with Jack Daniels.

I also remember us having to have the living room recarpeted because the stains wouldn't come out.

Plesent.
