The Art of Drowning

Morningstar (Davey's POV)

I left the house and walked the street. It was night time and I had a tune stuck in my head. I just began singing.

"I saw a star beneath the stairs
Glowing through the melting walls
Who will be the first to begin their fall?
Or will we become one?

Am I the star beneath the stairs?
Am I the ghost upon the stage?
Am I your anything?

I saw a star beneath the stairs
Glowing bright before descent
And in the morning there is nothing left but what's inside of me.

Am I the star beneath the stairs?
Am I the ghost upon the stage, am I your anything?
Am I the star beneath the stairs?
Am I the ghost upon the stage, am I your anything?

And I don't want to die tonight,
And I don't want to fall into the light
Will you wish upon?
Will you walk upon me?
I don't wanna die tonight"

Noticing there was no one on the street but me, I sang louder.

"Will you believe in me tonight?
Am I the star beneath the stairs?
Am I the ghost upon the stage?
Am I your anything?
Am I the star beneath the stairs?
Am I the ghost upon the stage?
Am I your anything?"

----

The house was warmer than outside, thank God, and I set my backpack on my bed. I closed my eyes and sighed.
I named the song "Morningstar" because it was more of morning than night.

I fell asleep and woke up to the sun shining in my face. My hair was a mess, my eyes were red, and my clothes were dirty.
Definitly not the best way to start a Satuday.

I got up and fixed my hair. I decided I was going to try to communicate with Jade again. Jade was so beautiful, he just didn't realize it. I noticed he wasn't happy with life, I wanted to help!

I knocked on his door and held my breath. I suprised that Jade didn't answer, but his mom did.
She was crying.

"What's wrong?" I asked and she sobbed into my shoulder.

"Jade! He's gone!" she cried and I pushed her off.

"What?! What do you mean he's gone?"

"He's gone! He ran away!"
