Romia and Juliette

Wrong with a Red Mark

I was walking down to the cafeteria with my Mom, still wondering what my life was like. Unlike most days, she was sober. I decided that maybe I should tell her something, something that I was rather unsure about.

”Mom?” I said, as we walked down the hall
”Yes dear?” She said
”Ummm… I think I like Mia.” I said.
”What do you mean?” She inquired, her eyes burning into my skin
”I mean, like her… more than a friend.” It was then that I felt her slap me, her hand burning my skin as it touched my cheek.
”W-What was that for?” I asked, in shock. I took a few steps back from her.
”Liking someone of the same sex is wrong and sinful. You shouldn’t do it!” She spat.
”But… what?” I didn’t understand.
”It’s wrong. If you like someone of the same sex, you go to hell and burn.” She shouted. A doctor walked up to us.
”Ma’am, is there a problem?” He asked.
”No, sir.” She answered, throwing on a fake smile.

After he left, she quickly walked me back to my room.

”Why is it wrong?” I asked, fearful that she might hit me again.
”Because God punishes homosexuals… They are the reason that we have so many problems today. They corrupt and poison the youth.” She answered, plainly.
”Can I get help…?” I asked, hoping that something could fix me.
”Yes.” She smiled.
