All Tied Down

"Samantha, of Course you have to go tomorrow." Laura
said in a stern voice. Samantha had been bothering her
since she arrived back home after school. It was now
Friday, only one day away from having to leave to the park,
and Samantha was doing her best to get out of it.
"But, I don't have to go, I could just change in the
basement, run around in circles and then shift back. It's
easy as that." she smiled, hoping her bluff wouldn't be
matched, she knew she couldn't just let her wplf run in
cirlces in the basement, het wolf could burst through
anything just to get to the fresh air.
Laura shook her head in disbelief. "Out of all the time
you've had to go and not want to, this has to be the worst.
You are being very silly, it's not like I'm going to tie you
down just so you can stay here. I think there's something
you aren't telling me, Samantha." She was right on the
target. And Samantha was now afraid she would have to
explain to her mother that she didn't want to be with a
werwolf, especially if her wolf was the one forcing her into
liking one.
Samantha looked away from her mother, trying to figure
out what to say but nothing came into her mind, only the
truth wanted to come out now.
"Samantha, why are you being so resiliant? Tell me." Her
mother asked in such a calm tone.
Samantha shook her head and got up and moved away
from the table she was sitting at. Pacing from the counter
to the table, without looking at her mom, she was trying to
figure out how to explain everything.
"Mom, my wolf likes someone, and I don't-" she cut herself
off, this isn't the usual conversation a daughter has with
her mother, and this time there were two things parents
and chirldren don't usually talk about, one was that she
was talking about wolves. She went on and with difficulty
she told her mom the other reason this conversation was
so unusual. "Mom, I don't want to mate this week! What if
that happens?! That's just so weird, I mean werewovles,
mom!! Doing...that!!" She yelled and looked at her mom.
Her mother was shocked, she had no idea what all this
was about and it took her by surprise.
"You like a werewolf? Which one?" Her mother asked,
registeering everything in her head one at a time.
"Micheal" Samantha said ashamed and turned away from
her mother.
"And you think your going to have to...have sex with him
as a wolf?" At that Laura started giggling, trying her best to
not laugh at her own daughter.
"How can you think that's funny?" Samantha said through
gritted teeth, still not making eye contact with her mother.
"Because you don't, you won't, trust me. As far as I know,
the only werewolves that actually do that are the ones that
choose to remain in their wolf forms, which aren't many.
So you have nothing to worry about. You might just go up
to him and nuzzle at his neck and he you, but our wolves
are more accustomed to no more than that." She said
staring at her daughter, who was now crossing her arms in
anger that she was laughing.
"Still, I don't want to like him, mom, it's only because my
wolf does, I know it. I mean, I have him for a class and he
doesn't even talk to me. He thinks he so much control over
his wolf he allows himself to get so involved with humans.
He even arm wrestles them when he can brake their amr
off." She was talking slowly now, hoping the desperate
sound in her voice was enough for her mother to make her
stay home.
"Besides, I always wanted to be with a human, marry him
like you married dad." She smiled and turned to face her
mother, who was glowing at the thought of her husband
and that her daughter wanted the same thing.
"You father is amazing, and one of a kind, but sweet heart,
you might not find a human that can love you and accept
you, you have to remember that. And you also need to
learn to restrain yourself, until then, I can't allow you to
date humans." The last sentence was a command, not just
from her mother, but from the alpha wolf in her.
Samantha's face fell, that was the first time she was ever
commanded by the wolf she had as a mother and that felt
like the worst thing ever.
In their world, packs weren't just conveinence or travelers
looking for packs to join, or who was the strongest. A pack
was an actual family. Laura being the alpha female in this
small little pack. Samantha had a little brother, only ten
years old, he was far from joining their pack, he still had a
good six years to go, but he already knew the family
secret, he kept it, and he waited patiently for his day to
come.
Samantha was hurt that her mother would do that to her,
to deny her what her mother had and to use the power of
the pack. The demand an alpha gave was so strong, there
was no way you could defy it, no matter how much you
wanted to. She almost choked trying to clear the lumo in
her throat. She looked at her mother with blank eyes and
opened her mouth but nothing came out.
"I'm sorry" Laura said looking away from her daughter.
"It's for your own good and you know it." Her mother was
still talking as her own wolf, letting her wolf control the
conversation, knowing in her heart that she could never
really say this to her daughter, but that she had to.
Samantha stiffened and nodded, her wolf was strong,
making her stonger as a human, she could get through
anything. "There's still the idea of tieing me down." she
joked and her and her mother laughed.
Samantha went up to her room, she would just have to
anticipate tomorrow, inside her wolf was doing leaps and
turns in joy of being able to be free. It sometimes sickened
her, but she was grateful she could be stronger because of
her wolf.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Saturday morning finally arrived, Laura went to wake up
her daughter.
"Oh come one, wake up sleepy head, we have to get
moving, you can sleep for an hour or two in the car, come
on, I decided we wont run there."
Samantha smiled but was still tired, good, they didn't have
to run. She got up, got herslef ready and headed out of the
house for the car, ready to fall back to sleep for the long
ride to the park.
"Finally here." Laura said just as Samantha was just
waking up. They both got out of the car and stretched.
They saw the familiar cars of the other werewolf families
and knew they would be the last to shift. Samantha hated
this because sometimes her mom would shift right infront
of the other werwolves, Samantha would quickly go
behind a tree and disrobe so she could shift. There was
even a time where the wolves didn't know why she was
running off and follwed her, and then watched her change
from human to wolf. They still wondered why she was so
uncomfortable as a werewolf, or changing infront of them.
Being a werwolf gave you pride and courage, they all
thought it weird that she didn't seem so proud or
courageous, but she was still one of them.
"You know, "Samantha started as they took their first few
steps into a part of the forest that had no path. "You could
tie me to the car, maybe all the cars, I mean, you know, just
to see how storng I can be. Maybe my wolf wont change
infront of people that pass and will have no choice but to
fight the moon." She was still hopeful, but she laughed
with her mom, both shaking their heads at the thought,
which was impossible. Nothing ould stop the moons pull
on them.
"Just in time, you sleepy heads are almost always the last
ones. Not eager are you, Samantha?" Vikki, one of the
other werewolf mothers had become friends with Laura
and Samantha. Sometimes she would wait for them and
talk before they made their shift. The full moon wasn't till
that night, but they all liked giving their wolf a little bit of a
run and then change back to humans to let the moon do
it's magic.
Samantha looked around, there were no signs of other
werewolves, she couldn't see or hear anything moving.
Even as a human she had great senses. She quickly
disrobed infront of the two ladies and tried to shift. Nothing
happened. She felt a little afraid. Why wasn't I shifting,
didn't my wolf want to shift? She thought. Then she heard
low growls, werewolves were coming. Not the usual
number, there wre visitors in the area. But she didn't really
worry about that, her mother made it clear everytime a
visitor passed through that her daughter was off limits to
them. And she would make it clear when ever she needed
to.
Right now, she was more afraid of the fact that she was
still fully nude, she turned to her mother. "Mom, I'm no
shifting, what's wrong?" She asked in a horrified whisper.
"You aren't ready then, neither is your wolf, just wait, she'll
want to shift soon enough. Oh look, there are new wolves.
Let's go say hi." Laura pulled her daughter along, and she
almost yelled, she grabbed her clothes and put on her
clothes quickly. it was human to feel embarassed about
being naked in front of strangers, and that would never
end for her. The wolves all smiled at her, all five
werewolves that Samantha new and the two new editions,
the travelers. When Micheal's wolf stepped out from
behind the others Samantha felt her heart beat quicken
and her wolf was happy. She wanted to transform now,
and so she did. She ripped through her clothes and
Samanths growled inside, she had worn a new t-shirt and
now it was ruined.

(Samantha's Point Of View)

Stupid wolf!! Why did he have to do that? You know, you
could have waited till I changed!! My wold never did this to
me, she always waited patiently for me to change. I already
knew she was that happy to see him, but why couldn't she
have done that when I was naked?! She'd see him
eventually. I looked through my wolf's eyes, she saw so
much more, I saw so much more when I was a wolf. I was
two times my human height, making my head look down
when I wanted to look at my mom. She seemed nervous,
probably because she knows I changed because of
Micheal. My tounge flopped out at the side, it was rather
annoying, but it was needed sometimes. We couldn't just
go to a watering hole and drink from it. So sometimes
when the heat seemed too much, out came the tounge. My
mom moved closer to me, I wondered why. I looked at
Micheal and realized that the other werewolves were
thinking about me, how they liked me, they liked my wolf.
My wolf was big, never bigger than most wolves because
of my human height, but still big. I had dark black fur, it let
me blend in at night. I had four large paws with sharp claws
to go with it. When I grinned a wolfy grin, you could see the
sharp edges of my teeth.
I sighed inside, of course my mother was worried about
me, I had changed first and the wolves wanted me. My
mom would have to wait for her wolf to change to do
anything about it. I would stay by her side, not even my
wolf self wanted the other wolves, just one, my wolf
wanted Micheal.
At the thought of that, I let out a growl, a happy growl,
nothing threatening and out of no where my wolf walked
happily to Micheal. His wolf seemed shocked, and when
the shock disappeared in his eyes my wolf moved forward
to place her head on his neck. She rubbed her head on his
neck and he was making this purring noise, not the soft
sound a cat makes, but a rough sound that came from his
throat. he seemed to like my wolf as well. I liked that, that
meant he liked me too, he had to if his wolf did.
And then, I became my wolf, my wolf and I were not she
and me, we were now one. I would understand her and she
would understand me. I moved away from him, giving him
my wolfy grin. At this moment, I almost whined in pain, all
those voices!! They were shouting at me, warning me,
saying I wasn't being fair. Whose voices were they? Why
could I hear voices? I tried to tune them out, I looked all
around the forest, no human was close enough to see, and
yet, why did they say I was being unfair? I looked around
again, seeing all the werewolves. My mother was now a
werewolf too. And I heard her soothing voice, but she
wasn't in her human form, how could I hear her?
The voices continued and I let out a howl of pain, they
were so loud and they all came at once. What was going
on? I growled at my mother, she should explain what's
happening. She moved closer to me and told me to sit. I
heard her voice in my head, I was hearing all these voices
in my head, I realized that when she came closer to me. I
could see how human she was inside, she was thinking
things, and I could hear them. I thought that was a myth.
"Now sweet heart, I couldn't tell you this would happen, it
was forbidden so long ago, new werewolves had to find
out for themselves, or else they would never figure it out,
never be able to come one with their wolf. And you are one
with your wolf, you can hear all our thoughts. I must say I
am so proud, but I am also so very sorry."
I lookeed into her wolf eyes, her eyes and she sat in front
of me, so calm, but her voivce, the voice in my head,
her thoughts sounded so comrforting. her wolf got up and
touched her nose to mine, a sign of affection, she was one
with her wolf, too, I guessed. The voices calmed as she
spoke to me. "Now it will be easier to communicate with
everybody, sometimes it's hard, but other times it's better."
she said and layed down, putting her large furry head on
her paws.
I looked around, it was Peter that said I was unfair, he was
growling slightly at Micheal, but Micheal didn't care, he was
concentrating on me. "Ask her out, where? What would
she like to do?" he thought and I laughed a wolfy laugh
that sounded like someone wheezing when they laughed.
Micheal looked at me then. I smiled and walked over to
him, "I'd love to go out with you." I said and I liked him on
the side of his face. We spent the entire afternoon running
around and playing tag, which is hard and easy when you
are a werewolf. You have the speed to catch the target, you
can also hear their thoughts if they plan to change their
course. The hard part was that they could do the same
thing, and so, it was a very long game of tag.
It was now almost night and we all shifted into out human
forms, my mother gave me her sweater to wrap around
myself. I loked at all the men there, the new travelers eyed
me a lot, that was probably why my mother gave me her
sweater. Only my upper thighs showed now, and the rest
of my legs, but the important parts were covered. I felt
better, I felt reassured, I felt proud and courageous, I felt
like I could do anything and I kept a smile on my face. We
all sat down on the ground in a circle, we would soon have
to disrobe. Part of me still felt self conscious, but that was
probably because Micheal might look at me. My mothers
grip on my arm tightented every now and then, she might
have to fight with the travelers once we shifted if they kept
looking at me like I was a piece of steak. And maybe I'd
fight with her.
I looked at Micheal, we were now all getting up to get out of
our clothes, some people were still naked so they just
waited. Micheal smiled at me, was that a smile like he
couldn't wait for me to tak of my jacket. I had the urge to
run behind a tree but my mom stopped me. "Stay near me."
She said through greeted teeth, this wasn't any good, she
was definately going to fight them. And seeing as there
were two that probably would fight back, I'd be right there
to help her, even if I didn't have her consent to fight.
I looked at Micheal again and he had turned around, he
wasn't facing me anymore. That was odd. I took my
mothers sweater off and held it in front of me, but not
before I heard a whistle. It came from the traveler that was
dark skinned and had dark hair and dark eyes. I looked
only at his face, glaring, baring my teeth, as a human I may
not be scary, but once the moon hit, let's see what they'll
do once I attack them. I would probably have to wait for my
mom, I wouldn't want to start something and then have her
need to step in. I looked up, through the trees the sun had
already gone, the moon was rising high into the sky, we
didn't have long to shift.
Micheal stayed turned away from me, was he trying not to
look at me? I felt a bit happy that he respected that. I heard
chuckles coming from the two travelers. My mom squoze
my arm so hard it hurt. I moved her hand away but she just
grabbed my hand. "When we shift, don't be afraid, just act
natural, if anything happens, don't worry." I nodded once,
not really sure why I would be so worried.
And then it hit all of us, the urge, the need. We all titled our
heads back in pain, my mouth opened as to yell, but a
second later, it came out as a growl. I was back to my big
wolf self. Every now and then I heard a growl come after
my own. It was painful to shift, but more painful when the
moon made us shift, it's like it restarted us, made us a new
wolf.
I looked around and everyone seemed not to be at ease. I
heard them all cussing and moaning in their heads at the
pain. I shook my now animal self, trying to let the pain
subside. I closed my eyes and was startled by someone
rubbing their head against my neck. At first I thought it was
Micheal, but I could smell better and it was not him next to
me. I opened my eyes to find a black wolf near me. I
growled and shoved him away. He snarled back at me as
my mom stepped in between us. She had her teeth bared
and was ready to stike if he made an advance towards me.
I could hear her thoughts. "She's too young for you, you
will not have her, she doesn't even want you." Her voice
was so human but it still sounded deathly.
His voice came out clear, it was very deep, he sounded like
an old man. "Oh, trust me, I'm sure she wont deny me, her
wolf needs someone strong, and I am strong." He sounded
so sure of him self that I laughed at him in my thoughts,
sure that he would hear me.
He looked at me for a second and smiled, "I can still make
her change her mind. If I try to kill you, I wonder what she
would do to protect you." Oh no, I thought, that must be
what my mom meant when she said don't worry. She flew
at the wolf and then I saw the other wolf charging at her,
ready to ambush her. I waited a few more seconds till he
was close enough, I angled my self so that when I ran into
him we would end up a bit farther from the death brawl
happening.
The werewolf under me was stronger, but I still put up a
good fight. he was thrashing on the ground, trying to get
me to release him, I had no other instinct but to bite his
neck. I did, and he let out a loud painful whine. I kept
growling at him as I kept my teeth deep in the thick skin of
his neck. He shuddered back, he was bleeding, and I could
taste the blood on my mouth. It made me want more blood,
it made me want to kill.
I heard his thoughts and the thoughts of his friend, they
were both begging for mercy, but my mother and I knew
better, we had to weaken them, if we let go of them now
they could easily turn on us and attack. We waited a bit
longer, I could hear his thoughts slowly dripping into
unconsciousness. We were winning. I smiled but kept my
mouth on his neck. He shuddered one more time before
his thouths were gone and his eyes closed. I let go and
watched as he turned into a human. He was white, he
would have been very handsome if not for all the blood all
over him. He had long brown hair, and I even thought he
was cute, I felt pity, but then remember he had tried to help
kill my mother.
My mother howled at the moon. Her thoughts were
incoherant but she sounded worried, about me.
Everyone's thoughts were quiet, the all were just staring at
the two men before us, afraid to go near. Why were they so
afraid? I walked over to the other man, and nudged his arm
with my shoulder, checking if he was faking it. I smelled his
blood, and wanted to put a paw on his head and smash it
there or just tear him to pieces and eat him piece by piece.
My mom heard this from my thoughts and pushed me to
go sit with the other wolves.
Through the whole night we all slept side by side, keeping
warm in the deep, cold forest. my mother, Vikki, and her
husband stayed awake to keep an eye on the travelers. I
finally woke, with my mother's jacket covering me. I got up
quickly and dressed. I yawned and realized there was this
salty, rusted flavor in my mouth. I quickly ran to the car, it
wasn't that quick, and grabbed my tooth brush and
canteen, along with my mothers and another pair of
clothes for us both. I saw a few tourists, they gasped when
they saw me, I figured seeing a girl in only a sweater was
why they had gasped.
When I reached the car, however, I saw what it was they
were so shocked about. My mouth and jaw was covered in
blood. I gasped at myself. I quickly washed my face as I
rushed back to where the other werewolves still lay
sleeping. My mom was now human again and she walked
over to me.

(Back To Narrator's Point of View)

Laura had a worried expression on her face, she was
afraid what her daughter would do now. Samantha hadn't
yet learned enough restraint and now she had tasted
blood, she had liked the taste. Laura thought should have
tied her up like she wished.
"Samantha, I must say I am proud of you for knowing how
to protect yourself, and me for that matter." Laura's voice
was shaking, and she sounded so sad. Samantha could
hear the sadness in her voice and hugged her mom.
"What's wrong? It's alright, they wont bug us anymore."
Laura shook her head as she cried in her daughter's arms.
She broke the hug, "You've tasted human blood, you'll be
like our ancestors. You might not be able to control
yourself. I...I might have to.... Kill you." And she broke out
again into another violent sob, covering her eyes. Vikki
walked over to her and wrapped and arm around her,
looking at Samantha.
"Sweetheart, you are too young to have tasted it, we vow
never to taste human blood, those who have don't feel the
need to kill, and last night you...." She couldn't go on.
"Last night I wanted to kill them, I wanted to taste their
blood, watch it spill out." Samantha finished what
everyone wanted to say out loud, at this point everyone
was already up, shifting from wolf to human. Before falling to the floor, she yelled out. "I...I'm...I'm a monster!!"
