Her Escape

Truth and Consequence

AN: sorry it's kind of short but it's really important to what happens. i promise to update soon but PLEASE PLEASE comment !!!!!!

Mikey draped his arm around Jade’s shoulders as they made their way back to room 666 on the 13th floor. Once in the room they gathered their assorted materials for the night and started back up the lengthy journey to the roof. This time getting an elevator all to themselves, which was fortunate for Jade and Mikey both had their arms full and would not be able to scare anyone, just make them claustrophobic.
As they removed the broom Mikey had put in-place, and made their way up the few stairs to gaze at the astonishing view. The city was positively breath-taking. As Jade gaped, she literally had forgotten to breath and had to knock herself out of the trance before she had an asthma attack.
While Jade had been battling against her lung deficiency Mikey found the most opportune location for them to lay and set up the makeshift bed.
Once they were settled Mikey took a coke and some Mentos over to the edge of the roof. He dropped the disk of minty freshness into the carbonated beverage and there was an explosion of cola! In a moment of panic he curse to him and gasped in amazement holding the bottle off the side of the roof. Seconds later they heard the cries and shrieks of nightly city goers who had been showered with the sticky substance. “Woah, I have always wanted to see if that worked! I can’t believe it did!” Mikey was so ecstatic he was prancing in place.
Jade was flabbergasted by Mikey little experiment and joined hi in showering the New York Public…..until they ran out of Mentos and retired to laying down and watching the sky change. It was 4:40 in the morning, the sky was growing lighter and lighter. The stars were fading with the darkness as the moon was forced back into hiding. It would be less then as hour before the sun peeked over the horizon spreading its brilliant colors of pink, red, orange, and purple.
Jade couldn’t help but drift off into a serene slumber when she caught a glimpse of the peaceful sunrise. When she awoke she was back in her hotel room, laying next to Mikey the curtains drawn and the lights off. She could hear Mikey’s low hum of a snore, indicating he was still sound asleep. Searching for something to signify the time of day she found her side-kick on the bed side table, it was ten in the morning.
Someone must have turned down the thermostat because it was absolutely freezing in the room; the bitterly cold air shunned her body as she emerged from the safe haven of the covers. She wasn’t exactly sure how she had winded up back in the hotel room, but figured Mikey had carried her. For this she slowly moved her lips to his forehead, he didn’t even stir. Not wanting to wake his tranquil sleep after such a long night, she set out to find Gerard.
But when she knocked on his and Eliza’s door, there was no answer, “They probably went out to get breakfast already.” She thought aloud, not concerned by the people walking past looking at her absurdly for mumbling to no one in-particular.
But there was suddenly an uneasy feeling in the pit of her stomach that she couldn’t shake. She needed to know where Gerard was and she wasn’t exactly sure why. Still not wanting to wake Mikey she made her way down to the front desk, looking conspicuous in her skull boxers and black band t-shirt.
“I’m sorry Mrs. Way, but he never came back last night. Is there something else I can do for you?” said the young man behind the counter with a square shiny silver name tag that read ‘Alex’. Jade smiled at the fact that he had referred to her as ‘Mrs. Way’ although it still made her think of Donna; but she soon returned her attention to Gerard who she now dubbed M.I.A. “Wait him and Eliza never came back?” she was frantic now scrambling for information.
“No maim, the young man in the black leather jacket left just shortly after you had arrived, and he never returned. But the young lady that was accompanying him in his room hadn’t left until this morning around seven. Is everything alright Mrs. Way?”
“No, you have to be wrong. Why wouldn’t he come back? Why would he leave her here?”
“I’m sorry maim, I think they may have had a fight. When he left he seemed angry.”
“Ok, thank you Alex” she threw a glance at his name tag as she spoke leaving in a hurry soon after the words left her lips, not waiting for a response.
Walking away she immediately called Gerard on her cell phone, trying to remain calm and think of a rational explanation for him not telling them he was leaving. But when she got no answer for the third time she lost it and started to panic. With-out giving it a second thought she immediately rushed out into the busy streets of New York, in her pajamas. When she looked both right and left and there was no sign of him she called Mikey and told him to meet her in the lobby with a change of clothes.
Once she had changed quickly in the bathroom they split up looking for him. Jade walked towards the club and bar district while Mikey went to check surrounding hotels. Once she was while away from Mikey the panic and fear started to restart in her body. She took her cell phone and with shaky hands dialed Frankie’s cell, she was closest to Frankie after Mikey. Once she explained what happened, he was able to talk her down to a calm state and direct her to a few places that Gee would have gone in his rage.
When she reached around the fifth bar she was starting to lose hope in finding him. She walked around the back ally and she say and still body. Immediately gasping and rushing over she realized it was Gerard. He was under a pile of metal garbage cans. His face was crimson with the blood that flowed over onto the ground and his clothes, he was unconscious and the rest of him was looking just as bad. “Oh my god, Frankie I found him call Mikey he’s unconscious! Get to New York!” and the line went dead.
Rushing to his side pulling the cans off is broken body and calling 911 she was in hysterics. Checking his vitals as best she could, he was still breathing but his pulse was weak. Seeing him this damaged and venerable infuriated Jade, but this wasn’t the time for the anger she felt towards whoever did this to him.
The ambulance arrived shortly after she managed to finish checking his vitals, the EMTs rushed around her shouting commands and statements about his condition to one another. She couldn’t help but let the tears fall as she slowly broke down knowing she could now that Gee was in good care. Holding his hand, her voice as soft and comforting as she could manage she repeated to him “Everything is going to be ok, don’t you worry, you’re going to be ok.”
Tears were still pacing themselves down her cheeks when they entered the ER of the hospital whose name was unknown to her at the time. When the doctors opened the doors allowing natural sunlight to kiss their skin, Gerard was ripped from Jade’s comforting grip and forced into the stuff atmosphere of white coats and the very thing he hated most, needles. Jade just stood there at the end of the tacky white wall, he arms limp at her sides, her eyes petrified; fixated down the long corridor.
With-in moments Mikey was at her side, his face was the palest Jade had ever witnessed, there was an unseen gaze in his eyes that told of the fear, guilt and remorse he felt for his brother. Even through these emotions and uncertainty, he saw Jade and how distressed she was standing there unable to move on the middle of the hall, people rushing around her like she wasn’t even there. He came up from behind, guiding her to the waiting room with a gentle hand. When she was resistant he bent his lips to her ear whispering sweetly “Come on baby, it’s out of our hands now. You did everything you could.”
As these last words spilled out of his mouth and hit her, she realized he was there and she didn’t have to be so strong, she didn’t have to try and keep herself together anymore. With that thought Jade completely broke down into hysterics, turning and latching onto Mikey, holding him to her so tightly, barring her face in his chest. She was afraid to lose him too. Though at the time she did not realize how well placed her paranoia really was. She was scared of losing Gerard or any of the guys that made up her new family. She had had so much lose and pain in her life that she was beginning to think the lives lost were her fault after all.
Mikey tried to comfort her best he could, but all she really need was to know that he was there, he cared, and he wasn’t going anywhere. And so this is told her, “Jade, I love you. And I will always love you. I’m not going anywhere..”
Through her now calming mental catastrophe she managed to answer truthfully and from the heart, “You took my ability to say I love you to anyone else and mean it.”
