Chapter Twenty-Eight

My fears were soon put to rest when Darren pulled back from her with the bottle and the gun. The rain was still pouring down. The huge tanks below us were now overflowing, when they had only been half full when I had first arrived.

He pointed the gun at her.
“I’ll do it!” he yelled.
“NO!” she squeaked. “You don’t know the -!”

A huge gunshot riquocheted round the air. I looked at Birgit and realised that she was producing blood like a tap. With this, I ran over and kicked her. She fell over the railings and into the water.

A huge slosh echoed from below.

Darren instantly hugged me and started to cry, he was red faced he was crying so much. His face was dripping with twice as much water as it had from the rain, I presumed that was tears. He dropped to the floor as though he himself had been shot. He bit his thumb and shivered. Vomiting as he did.
