What Happens Under The Sun
Chapter Twenty-six
*~Tom's Point of View~*
And just like that she had left. I couldn't deny that I had been really starting to like her, but what was I supposed to do? Chase after her through the airport and ask if she wanted to come home with me? Not likely.
I put the last of my stuff in my suitcase and started to zip it closed. I stopped midway when I noticed a shirt just under the side of the bed. I reached down and grabbed it. I shoved it in my suitcase, not bothering to fold it, and continued to close my suitcase.
I pulled my suitcase off of the bed and wheeled it towards the door. Bill and I were leaving tomorrow morning and I wanted to be ready.
I stopped to adjust my hat in the mirror and then left my room. Bill was coming out of his room too. I waited and we walked down to the lobby together, it was time for lunch.
''What's your problem?'' Bill asked as we walked.
''What do you mean?'' I asked.
''You're so quiet.'' He stated and I shrugged.
''You miss her don't you?'' he said with a smirk.
''Not even.'' I replied.
''You do so.''
''I don't miss her; she was just some girl I slept with on vacation. She's probably going to forget my name, and I probably wont even remember anything but the sex in a few weeks.'' I said.
''Whatever you say.'' He didn't believe me, but I didn't much believe myself either.

''A-twenty-three, A-twenty-four, A-twenty five!'' I mumbled to myself as I looked for my seat.
I shoved my bag up into the overhead compartment and then sat down in my seat, it was the window seat.
The cushioned leather chair was quite comfortable, but I didn't doubt that my butt would still be numb at the end of the flight, and god only knew who I'd be sitting next to probably some old-
''Hey!'' Jordan's musical voice rang and I turned my head so fast my neck almost snapped.
''Hey!'' I replied with a smile.
''Looks like we're flight buddies.'' He said and I chuckled.
''It would seem that way.''
He shoved his bag up into the compartment next to mine and then sat down.
''So you're from Germany?'' he asked.
''Actually, I've never been before.'' I told him and he raised his eyebrows questioningly.
''My dad owns this big company and we've lived all over. He only told me that we were moving to Germany for a while about a day before I left to come here.'' I explained.
''What about you?'' I asked.
''This,'' he gestured to his face. ''Is in huge demand in Europe, it just so happens that Germany's my first stop.'' I laughed lightly.
We talked idly for a while, about the weather, about what we'd done on vacation, just small talk designed to prevent awkward silences.
Soon enough a stewardess stood at the front of the cabin and started to go through the safety procedures. When she finished the seatbelt light came on and I clipped mine together right away, but Jordan seemed to be having some trouble.
''Here.'' I said, reaching for his seatbelt.
''Thanks.'' He said, putting his hands back to give me room.
''First time flying?'' I teased.
''Hardly.'' He laughed.
The plane started to move and I saw Jordan tense up a bit.
''Are you afraid of flying?'' I asked, a slight teasing note in my voice.
''No.'' He said just a little too defensively.
''You are!'' I laughed.
''Am not!''
The plane was starting to pick up speed and the front wheels left the ground. Jordan was rigid in his seat.
''You're scared.'' I teased.
''Am not.'' He said through clenched teeth as the plane shook slightly.
''Terrified!'' I sang and he laughed slightly.
''There you go, just don't think about it.'' I told him
''Yea cause forgetting that you're seventy thousand feet in the air is so easy.'' He said, rolling his eyes.
''Well, I'll keep you entertained then.'' I said with a smile.
''Sounds good to me.''
