What Happens Under The Sun

''Kate! I'm going now! I'll see you later!'' Jessica called.

''Have fun!'' I replied.

Jordan was taking Jessica to some new club tonight. He said that he would have brought Derek for my but he was doing a photo shoot. Since I was morally objected to being a third wheel, I'd opted to stay home.

I might have called Tom had my head not still been hurting from the day before yesterday. Also if I hadn't broken down and started to cry for no apparent reason after we'd had sex. I was a little embarrassed about that.

I had decided that more of the reason I was crying had been because of how utterly confused about everything I still was. I had feelings for Derek, but Tom kept popping into my head –or showing up at my door- and making me feel bad about those feelings. I didn't have feelings for Tom –that was my story and I was sticking to it- but somehow he had the power to make me feel bad about seeing another guy without even saying anything.

It made me wonder how everything had gotten so complicated all of a sudden.

Before I left for my vacation, I'd been heartbroken because of what Alex had done. I'd been cheated on and I hated men as a whole. That was how I felt and I was sure of it.

Then I went on vacation and Tom made me feel so special. I'd felt wanted when I was with him and I was sure of it.

But then I came back and the shit hit the fan. Suddenly I wasn't allowed to have those feelings for Tom so I denied them until they disappeared. And then I met Derek and I had feelings for him but they faltered whenever Tom crossed my mind. Now, I wasn't sure of anything anymore.

*~Tom's Point of View~*

''You need her, you need her.'' Bill chanted.

''I do not!'' I said defensively.

''You need her!'' he repeated.

''I do not! I could stop seeing her whenever I wanted to.'' I said confidently, but I didn't really believe myself.

''Liar!'' Bill laughed wildly.

''I'm not lying!'' I told him again.

''You need her!'' he screamed and then flew towards me, fangs bared.

''Shit!'' I gasped as I sat bolt upright.

It was another dream. I was really starting to dislike these twisted ones with hidden –or not so hidden- messages from my subconscious.
First, my band spills about my sex life to my mom and now my brother's a vampire.

I really needed to stop eating ketchup and onions before I went to sleep.

*~Kate's Point of View~*

I was woken up from a rather odd dream involving an elephant and a bucket of blue paint by some commotion in my apartment. I heard the door open and someone stumbled inside. The door slammed and I sat up, listening.

''Shh! You're gonna make Kate come out!'' Jessica slurred and I laughed to myself. She and Jordan had gotten plastered no doubt and had come back here to sleep.

''Go um, here and then come in my room, I'm gonna get ready.'' Jessica said and then I heard her hurry to her room. There was thump before she opened her door and she giggled wildly. I assumed she had walked into it.

I could hear Jordan's voice in the living room. He was muttering something I couldn't quite hear but it sounded like he was counting.

''Ten! Ready or not!'' he announced and I heard him start to move. I expected him to end up in Jessica's room where I'd have to listen to an episode of drunken sex for the rest of the night. What I didn't expect was for Jordan to end up in my room.

He laid down beside me and I froze. He put his arms around my middle and pulled me against him as he covered one side of my neck in slobbery kisses.

''I'm not Jessica I'm Kate.'' I said urgently.

''You have the cutest ears Jess.'' Jordan said and then proceeded to cover my right ear in messy, drunk kisses.

''I'm not Jessica.'' I told him again.

''Of course you are, you told me to wait and then get you.'' He said very loudly right in my ear.

''The cutest ears.'' He muttered and then I felt his tongue in my ear. I burst out laughing.

''Jess?'' he asked.

''I want to go in the other room.'' I said. Clearly he was convinced I was Jessica and I wasn't going to get very far trying to tell him otherwise.

''But Kate's in there, she'll be mad!'' he whispered.

''No Kate's gone out. Let's go.'' I said, getting out of bed.

''Don't go so fast!'' he said as I pulled him to his feet.

I led him to Jessica's room. She was in on her bed and I could hear her snoring lightly.

''Go lie down, I'll meet you there.'' I said, pushing him in the direction of the bed.

He laid next to Jessica and wrapped his arms around her.

''Wow you're fast!'' he said and I laughed as I headed back to my room.

What a pair.
