Summer Secrets

THIRTY

DAY 7

I woke up, not sure what time it was. I tried to get up and out of bed, but my body wouldn't let me; I was just too tired. I heard my parents talking, along with another voice I was surprised to hear: Ashlee's.

"We'll start packing tonight. After we get back from dinner." I heard my mom say. My eyes popped open in surprise, but shortly after closed because of the intense morning light in the room.

"Can't we stay an extra day?" I heard Ashlee complain. But for once, I actually agreed with her. I never bothered to ask my parents how long we were staying, I just sort of went along with everything. Ash must have been ignored because all conversation stopped after she said that. I heard the TV running, and my family eating their breakfast. I put on my best sleepy face and got out of bed.

After the best fake yawn I could do, I grabbed my glasses and said morning to everyone. Only my dad responded. I sat down by the rest of my family at the awfully small table that stood next to the balcony. I saw dolphins jumping out of the water. I stared at them as I took a whole sausage link and shoved it in my mouth. I decided to eat fast so we could start our day earlier, but it ended up that I waited for everyone to finish getting ready.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As the day carried on, I didn't get to go to the beach until late at night. Well, not really late, but 6:30, but it was getting dark there. As the rest of my family walked along the shoreline, I went back into those patch of trees. I slowly walked to Jerzy's tree house, overcome with so much pain. "Jerzy?" I said in a low and dull tone. I heard a response coming from the house, and a falling ladder shortly followed. I climbed up, and said, "Jerzy, I'm lea-"

"Hey!" Jay replied in an upbeat tone.

"I'm leaving tomorrow," I said. I stood there waiting for his response.

"Wait, you're...what?" he soon lost his wonderful mood.

"We're going back home. I have to leave tomorrow morning." I sat over next to him with my back against the wooden wall. "I can't stay that long. I just came over to say goodbye."

"Bye." he had lost all hope, and his only friend. We looked at each other for a long time until my phone rang.

"Yeah, Mom. I'll be right there." I hung up my phone, and looked at him once again. "Bye." Jerzy did something I never would have expected. He leaned over and kissed me gently on the lips. I didn't know how to react.

"Bye, Kelsi." He said with a sly smile. I couldn't help but to smile back.

"Bye." I said quietly. I left as I waved to him, with my face as red as a tomato. I couldn't stop giggling or smiling.
________________Day 8________________

"We all ready to go?" my family and I were standing out in the hallway of the hotel, right next to our rooms, and started towards the elevator. I didn't feel so bad about leaving today: at least I got to say goodbye to Jay. On the way driving home, I couldn't help but tell my friends all about it. About everything. They told me I had been reading too many books though. As I looked through the photos in my phone, I found a picture of Jerzy when I had just met him. I smiled again. I closed my cell and looked out of my window into the many great things in nature. Out in this world, anything can happen.
