What's It Feel Like to Be a Ghost?

CALIFORNIA LOVE

DANNY

He laid on his bed, tossing the water gun up and down to himself. I dont know why I try, He thought, realizing again that even in his head his voice was quiet. We'd end up moving anyways. He yawned, sitting up. The plastic gun patted the covering of the bed, startling the cat that once slept silently beside his legs. Why all the way up there? Its so damn cold! The fear of him freezing to death came up, but he tried shoving it away. It'd come back later. Bell, the cat, jumped off the bed and ran out of the room. The boxes of clothes and photo albums converted the walls into staircases in a way, sort of making the house seem more... cozy. But it couldnt get any larger in reality. They lived in a California mansion on the outskirts of Los Angelos, catching the attention or tourists and passing familys on their way downtown. He may be a typical rockstars' son, rich and only in the best of status at all times, but no one really noticed him outside his group of friends. But he was leaving that all behind now. His parents; Frank and Jamia Iero, were going up to Canada to visit their old friend Mikey Way and his wife, who is 8 months pregnant now, but he got to stay back in his old home back in Minnesota for what seems like it could be months or maybe even years. Only, the friends he knew, all moved to places like New Jersey and New York and Paris, France. So he was staying with his grandparents. Now, he was used to cold, I mean, the water in the ocean can be so cold! But... Minnesota... That place gives a new meaning to the word "FUCKITSCOLD".

"Danny! Come on honny! Its time to pack the UHaul go!" His mother called from the kitchen. Dannys' heart stumbled to find its beat again, realizing they were leaving for good. They werent coming back for months, maybe a year or two. Knowing his parents, never was the strongest possibility. He stood up, suddenly winded, probably from the horrible realization. But he had to get over it, he could still keep in contact, couldnt he? It was merely a matter of time until they forgot him though.

"Mom I cant..." He cried, pulling his old Misfits hoodie tighter around his shoulders. He had to admit, he did have a nice body. All the girls liked him here, but... He was gay. No one knew except him, but its true. His bright blue eyes fluttered with tears. His father, Frank, walked in.

"Danny, are you okay? Did something happen?" He asked, sitting Danny down and putting his arm around Dannys' shoulders. Danny looked up at his dad, the scorpian tattoo showing through the now-bleached hair. "You dont want to leave California, do you?" Danny shook his head, wondering if his hair was still as dark as it was when they lived back in Minnesota, before the sun-forced semi-bleaching. "Why?" Danny felt his dad ruffle his hair. "You bawled for days when we moved down here, and now you cant stand to go back?"

"Exactly dad." He muttered. "I cant stand to go back. You remember how fucking cold it was? And how all of my friends moved? I dont want to go back. I want to stay here in warm, sunny LA. Its perfect here."

"You've never lived anywhere but Minneapolis and here. You're staying in a more mellow area with gramma and grampa." Danny looked purely shocked. Somewhere more mellow than Minneapolis, and he expected Danny to live there? Danny couldnt last a day, let alone a week! And he DEFINATLY couldnt last a year! No no no, he needed friends, not... mellow kids to smoke pot with!

"No. Im not going, Im not leaving this house, I'll stay with one of my friends!" Danny cried. "Im NOT going! YOU CANT MAKE ME!" He dodged away from his dad, covering his head in the pillow that was left there. They were leaving some stuff there for their neighbors who were moving in, and his bed and pillow was what the kid got,

"Danny, you have to come. Remember Mrs. K? She has a grandaughter your age, Ryann, I think her name was. She acts like you, dress' like you, everything. Shes so anxious to meet you, she doesnt have many friends but the ones she does have are alot like you two and you'd all get along great. Come on kid, shes desprate. Make her happy." I have someone who wants to meet me? Danny grinned alittle, nodding.

"Fine." He said, trying to sound uncaring. "If shes THAT desprate." [AUTHORS NOTE: Yes, I am Ryann, yes, I am a bit desprate to meet new people, no, I DO have many friends. Well, not many but plenty enough.] Frank smiled, standing up.

"Good choice kiddo. Now help me and Sammy pack the UHaul truck."
