Give Me A Reason To Believe

With Words I thought I'd never speak

Baylie's P.O.V.

His house was different. Bizarre.

Ray grabbed some stuff from the refrigerator, and I followed the five guys into the basement.

"Damnit, I forgot the skittles!" Frankie freaked out and ran back up the stairs.

I passed through the hallway staring at the gray walls.

They were covered with hand-drawn pictures and sketches. They were beautiful. I didn't know what to say.
It was like I was being shown a whole new world.

The basement was even stranger. It was awesome...
Just being there. With these people.. made me feel good. Wow.
I should do stuff like this more often.

Next thing I knew, I was picked up and plopped on the couch by Frankie, and we were stuffing our faces with skittles, starting a random conversation about how much cooler Patrick was than Spongebob.

I could tell that everyone was trying to avoid something. And I could tell that I probably wasn't going to find out what is was.

.................................

Time passed. A long time.

"Holy shit Bob look at the time!" Ray said.

It was 1:47 in the morning.
It seemed like it had just been a few minutes.
Minutes of sneaking glances at Gerard.

"Well see you tomorrow geeks. New geek."
Bob and Ray waved and walked up the stairs.

It was silent.
Mikey, Gerard, and I, not even daring to look into each others eyes.
I didn't know they were brothers.

"Gerard." Mikey tried.

"No Mikey, please."
The look in Gerard's eyes.

Gerard's P.O.V

I didn't want to talk about it.
About anything.
I always have to end up fixing it.
Everything.

"But Ge---"

"Mikey."

We were silent. Baylie was silent.
I looked up at her.
I'm glad she's here.
Mikey broke the silence.

"Where's mom and dad?"

Drunk. The answer flashed my mind, mocking the fact that I knew I was right.

"Mikey, where do you think they are??!!"
I didn't mean to get angry, but I couldn't help it.

Mikey looked straight at Baylie. Silent.
Mikey looked straight at me.

"Goodnight Gee."
He ran back up the stairs.

I bent over, my hands over my head.
One drop. Two. Three.
I was in tears.

I felt the soft hand rest on my back.
My heart stopped. My tears stopped.

I slowly lifted my head up, my eyes meeting the bright green ones next to me.

Right then I wanted to tell her my life story. Everything there ever was.
I wanted to hold her.
I wanted to yell "I love you!"...
But the words could never leave my still lips.

Then the green eyes filled with tears.
"Baylie....What's wrong?"
We were sitting inches away by now.

"Nothing...everything.. But.. I'm glad you said hi to me today Gerard."

"I'm glad your sitting next to me Baylie."
The tears stopped.
We looked up and smiled.
