Hello, I Dislike You Intensely. Have a Nice Day.

It was a nice park, fresh-painted green metal benches bordering on relatively lush, green grass. Trees shaded those benches, big and old, sunlight filtering through the shifting green lattice of leaves.

Basically, a lot of green. Yeah, my kind of place.

I unwrapped the Tootsie pop and found a star on the wrapper.

It's good, I told myself. It's a good sign.

I stuck the lollipop in my mouth and fished the folded piece of paper from my pocket. My secret was sleeping inside that paper. If anyone ever found that baby, it would open its mouth wide and scream. Loud. It was my duty to make sure it slept eternal. Ms. Tischler couldn't do anything if everyone just ignored my paper.

In the knothole of a nearby tree, I slipped the paper and scattered a handful of dirt over it. I felt as if I were sowing a seed. Or burying a loved one.

"Sweet dreams," I whispered.
