“Phil, it’s all right,” Jade reassured me in the car, before dropping me off at college, “He’s just a guy - you’ll get over him.”
“I guess,” I swallowed.
“Aw, Phil!” Iona cried at school, “It’s all right, he’s just a guy.”
“Yeah,” I smiled, bittersweet.
“Plenty of other fish in the sea,” Henry suggested, winking, “I mean, if you feel like you need to rebound…”
Iona hit him.
“He’s just a guy, Phil,” Iona repeated, “Guys are trouble anyway.”
It was Thursday.
“He’s just a guy, Meredith,” Katriona smirked.
It was Friday.
“He’s just a guy,” I repeated to myself, “Just a guy…”
It was Saturday.
He attempted to ignore me in the hall.
“Just a guy…” I told myself.
It was Sunday.
He smiled tentatively at me from across Church.
“Just a guy,” I told myself.
It was Monday.
He offered me a lift to school.
“Just a lift,” I told myself.
It was cursed Tuesday again.
We talked. For an hour.
“Just a guy…” I told myself.
