Messed Up Youthful Innocence

Secert Admirers

{Chrissy's point of view}

Happy 21st Birthday Jenny!

“It’s weird the other day when Kayla and I were at the mall, she kept looking at the prom dresses.” Erelin sighed

“When you were 15 weren’t you looking at dresses?” I asked.

“I was going at 15, so were you, and she has that same “I’m going” kind of outlook that we had.”

“Maybe she has some older secret admirer who isn’t afraid of Pete.” Andy suggested.

We had just gotten back from dinner at a restaurant and were just sitting in our living room talking. Drew, Petey, Kayla and Katie had gone to see a movie.

“Is Drew going to junior prom?” Pete asked

Andy and I looked at each other.

“No idea, he hasn’t said anything about it” I answered.

Part of me was okay with the fact that he hadn’t said anything about it. The first two proms
Andy and I had went to were innocent, the last one wasn’t.

“You know, I don’t think you have to worry about prom, I would be more worried about one of
the kids shooting the other with a paintball gun. “

Pete smirked.

“I really don’t think that’s a possibility, plus that hurts like no other.”

“Hey, maybe we’ll get lucky and they’ll just make a short film about cocaine!” We all laughed, hoping the jumping off the roof was the last of the release the bats junior attempts. At least that I knew about.

We all heard a key in the front door and the Drew and Kayla appeared in the doorway, followed by Katie and Pete. Katie immediately bounded up the stairs.

“Hey Drew?” Andy asked.

“Yeah dad?”

“Are you going to prom?”

“Yea”

Everyone in the room stared at Drew.

“With who?” I asked

“Kayla.”

I looked at Erelin who looked at me, then Pete.

“Wentz?” Andy asked confused

“Yeah dad, why?”

Pete’s expression was hard to read. Erelin just looked slightly confused.

“I was just curious”

“Okay.”

“Do you remember all three proms? Especially the last two?” Pete asked the adults.

“Yes, I do, but that doesn‘t matter now.” Andy mumbled trying to steer the conversation away
from the topic at hand.

“Right” Drew said raising an eyebrow at a muttering Andy curiously.

“When were you planning on telling me this?” Petey asked Drew, he sounded a little angry.

“Uh… Now?”

“I don’t see why you’re making a big deal about this, it’s just a dance” Kayla spoke for the
first time on the matter.

“Right”

With that, Drew Pete and Kayla went to join Katie upstairs. Petey was the last one up the
stairs and mumbled something to Drew. I heard one of the girls sigh as it sounded like someone was pushed into a wall. Then someone, most likely Katie, tripped up the stairs. Andy looked over at me

“What are we going to do them?”
