Messed Up Youthful Innocence

Raisin Bran Crunch

happy 27th birthday andrew john hurley

Mornings in our house can be somewhat odd. Chrissy and I wake up, and then wake the kids up who sometimes eat breakfast with me. Chrissy rarely if ever eats breakfast and if she does it’s something small. The kids vary too. Sometimes Drew will eat half the fridge other days he’ll have a granola bar. Katie pretty much takes after Chrissy, but will on occasion eat. I was very surprised when Chrissy sat down across from me with a huge bowl of frosted flakes. The bowl she had was bigger than a normal cereal bowl and I didn’t even know we had frosted flakes. Katie was picking the marshmallows out of lucky charms and Drew was on his second bowl of frosted mini wheats when Chrissy sat down. I cocked my head at her and raised an eyebrow
.
“What?” she asked glancing up from the front page of the newspaper.

“Are you pregnant?” I asked the first thing that went through my head.

“WHAT?” Katie screamed.

“EW you didn’t even ask us.” Drew said.

Chrissy looked up and me and shook her head.

“No I’m not” she said cautiously

Apparently the kids didn’t hear her because they kept going.

“Mom that’s so unfair I mean why don’t you just ruin our lives too” Drew said

“I’m the youngest I’m supposed to be able to pretend you two haven’t gotten it on since I was born” Katie mumbled.

Chrissy looked down to their end of the table smiling a little.

“If you two would just shut up,” she said sternly “You would have heard me say that I’m not.”

“Thank God.” Drew sighed.

“Just so you two know you didn’t ruin our lives.” I said

“Right” Katie rolled her eyes.

Chrissy just shook her head and went back to her gigantic bowl of frosted flakes.

“Hey mom, you would like tell us if you were right?” Katie asked.

Chrissy sighed and glared at her.

“No, we’d lie about it. Just go get your stuff and go to school” she remarked sarcastically

Drew and Katie got up and went to grab their bags for school. I looked across the table at Chrissy who had eaten almost all of the cereal.

“You did have a cereal obsession when you were pregnant though… right?” I asked

“Yeah but it was only raisin bran crunch. So much raisin bran crunch…”

“Oh yeah.”

She got up and handed the kids their lunches as they raced down the stairs. She yawned as they walked out the door and I walked over to her.

“Naptime” she yawned again before heading up the stairs.

“I guess I clean this up?” I yelled up the stairs.

“Thanks!” she yelled back.

After I put everything in the dishwasher I headed back upstairs. Chrissy was curled up in several blankets and around some pillows. I crawled into bed next to her gently kissing up her neck. Halfway up I stopped to find her smiling up at me with a malicious grin. I continued up the side of her neck to her ear which I nibbled at.
She knew exactly what I was up to. Sill smiling maliciously she pulled me on top of her as her hands slipped up the sides of my shirt.
