Always and Forever On

For BUSTANUT's writing contest:
'Brand New' Contest.

Based off of Brand New's "Guernica"

"Whenever I was going through my awkward teens, I was listening to a lot of angst-driven music. Hawthorne Heights, The Used, Aiden... those sorts of bands. I don't expect you to know who they are, dad, but you knew that they meant a lot to me at the time so you didn't ask questions. One of those bands was Brand New. They were everything I ever wanted: smart, feeling, strong, and beautiful. Songs like Handcuffs, Degausser, Jesus Christ... those are the songs that had me thinking. Again, you've surely lost me at this point, so let me bring you back. You see, I feel like Brand New is one of those bands that just 'gets me', you know? Everyone who loves music knows what I mean by that, and they'll tell me that only a handful of those kinds of acts roll around once in a lifetime. A group like that is legendary, so much so that they can cut through your soul and reveal everything inside. When you were in the hospital, they were all I had. Family and friends could only do so much for me; I had to turn to something that was honest and uninvolved. Then I heard Guernica, and even though I had listened to it many times before, never had it meant so much than in that moment. I bawled my eyes out, and then you were gone."
