Before the Rebellion
Damian Morgandy. He is seventeen and is from district 1. His parents and family keep telling him that he needs to train for every upcoming Games. He has run away several times. Every attempt has failed, and every time he is dragged back and is whipped. At this year's reaping he plans to volunteer. Not because he thinks he can win, but because he wants to get away from his family.
Ever Water. She's from District Four and one of the only people no one would trade places for. District Four is usually one of the Career Tributes but she won't be because she is not the most skilled of the bunch. She's a rule breaker but rather shy and timid. She loves all life but she is the only one taking care of her little brother. He is the only thing she has left. Her mother and father drowned on a boating trip.
Brighid Peelar. Just fifteen, of District 7 had never been anywhere out of the comforts of her little forested district. There she learned everything she knew - how to throw an ax from many feet away and still hit her target, what plants were good for eating and good to stay away from, how to chop down a tree with a few quick blows of her ax, and her love and knowledge of wild creatures. It was there that she also learned to love with her big heart. More specifically, she learned to love a dying boy named Thom Routhers. There are many medicines that could help heal him, but none she could afford, being a logger's daughter. When the tributes were being chosen, she volunteered last minute, taking the place of a girl she didn't know all that well. She knows she has to win the Games. She has to win to survive. She has to win for Thom to survive.
Heather Noble. She is from District 11. She's fifteen. She's the mayor's daughter. Her gift from her District is a feather that she wears in her hair. (It's from one of the really pretty birds that live there.) She's very determined to win, mostly because she doesn't want to die. She's good with throwing knives at people's heads and other bodily parts.
