Show Me Your Teeth

"Are you afraid?" That was a silly question—of course I was afraid. I was terrified, completely frozen in place. I could feel his claws pressing into my back, although his hands were placed gently on my waist. His warm breath spread across my face, inviting me in. Was I afraid? In that moment, I was. He was a fairytale monster, a killer no doubt. But at the same time, I had never wanted him more until this moment.

I leaned my hips into him, "Yes."

His eyes searched mine, the glowing red both terrifying and seductive. "Then why are you still here? Why haven't you screamed?"

I shifted my eyes to his mouth, now just inches away from my own. I could see the white tips of his fangs behind his lower lip. Out of all of the demon I saw, this is what terrified me the most. He could kill me, so easily and make it seem like an animal attack. An accident. Dramatic, tragic, anything you could think of, you name it.

But he wouldn't. Ethan told me about Aiden, he explained that to him, love was just a game. It didn't seem like it. Aiden didn't have much family—I mean, by the looks of it, Ethan is all he has left. He wants love and affection, I can see it. He just hides it all behind a mask of brute force and a cold heart.

"Because," I swallowed, taking a deep breath, not knowing if I would regret my next actions or if these would be my last words. "If I screamed, I couldn't do this." I pushed my lips to his, wincing slightly at the impact of his fangs. Aiden was careful, he didn't push me away—in fact he pulled me closer. I kissed him again and he reacted the same was, making sure he didn't cut me with his fangs.

I looked at his face. He was in obvious pain of some sort. He was trying hard not to hurt me, he didn't want to. There was an part of him—I didn't know how dominant that part might be—that wanted to kill me. "I don't want to hurt you."

I took his hands in mine, we both watched as our fingers locked together. Slowly, his claws began to shrink in size. I kissed him again, gently, purposefully. I wanted him to know that, yes I was afraid, but that I trusted him. The red in his eyes slowly faded. I pushed my lips to his once more, feeling his fangs disappear from behind his lips.

This was the moment he pushed my mouth open with his, I eagerly allowed him entrance. Tongues collided, my hands roamed up his arms graciously. Deep inside his chest, there was a low rumble of content. His lips moved from mine to my jaw, trailing kissed down to my neck, arms wrapped tight around my waist.

I could suddenly feel the teeth again. His claws roamed up my spine while he hummed in his throat.

"Aiden," I swallowed carefully. "Don't."

His voice was low, seductive, he almost moaned out the next few words. "Temptation is hard when you make it this easy." I felt his teeth graze my neck.

"No, Aiden, please—"
