Smokey Eyes

Have you ever wanted to give yourself smokey eyes, but you just couldn't do it quite right? Maybe because you didn't have the right tools or eyeshadow color? Or maybe you just want to know how to do smokey eyes, point blank? That's what this tutorial is going to teach you in quick easy steps.

Step One

You want to draw on your eyeliner. You want to make sure you put your eyeliner on the top lid first. Make sure it gets not only on the lid just by the lashes, but the waterline as well. You don't need to make it too thick, because you'll have black eyeshadow on eventually.

Step Two

You want to apply black eyeshadow over the eyeliner thats by your lashes, not on your water line. This will make the eyeliner blend in better and give your makeup a smooth over-all look. (You can also save this step for second to last, but I always do it second.) I use an angle brush for this step.

Step Three

You want to apply the black eyeshadow at the edges of your eyes in a smooth, round motion. Do not put this up to the eyebrow line. For this I use a smudge brush. You'll want to make sure you wipe off the black eyeshadow from the brush, because you'll use it to blend the white and black together in a seamless look.

Step Four

Add the white shadow with an eyeliner brush on the inner part of your eye. Same with the black eyeshadow, make sure it does not reach your eyebrow line. A lot of people do that and it looks tacky.

Step Five

Take your smudge brush (hopefully clean of all black shadow) and use it to blend that line between shadows together to create a smooth gradient.

Step Six

You want to add your eyeliner on the bottom waterline. When thats done take the angled brush and add black eyeshadow on the outer corner, going only about 2/3 the way in. Put it along the lashes, not on your waterline. Unless you want dry eyes.

Lastly, add your mascara to make your eyes pop.

If you're strapped for cash, all the brushes that I mentioned in this tutorial can be purchased at any drugstore for about $12.00 or less.
