Tips on Nail Polish

I love painting my nails, and I’m sure many Mibbians do, too. These are some tips that I use to help my nails look good.

Know What Colours Suit You

This is a simple, but big rule. It’s imperative that you know what colours suit you and that youonlywear them; don’t stray from them! Some people’s skin tones will suit warmer colours rather than cold ones, and sometimes you just can’t pull off the fluorescent ones. You’ll probably notice that you have one colour in your wardrobe that seems to be everywhere. For me, it’s red. I look good in red, and I know it. So, a great colour for my nails to be is red, not only because it suits my skin tone and hair colour, but because I wear a lot of that colour, so my nails will tend to match the rest of my outfit. That being said, me choosing a bright blue to wear on a day to day basis isn’t a good choice, because it will clash too much.

Don’t be Boring

Let’s say you love black nail polish and wear it all the time. How about you change things up a bit? Why not try a nice shade of dark purple? Or maybe black with some glitter in it? An,d the shatter nail polish is a great new look for anyone who wants something different. Basically, look around and see if there’s something that isn’t just a plain colour, something different, but something that still suits your taste.

Try Different Patterns

This is a fun way to keep your look fresh. There are a few tutorials on here on how to get a funky pattern on your nails, so try one of those or go searching on YouTube. Mix and match your colours and create interesting textures.

Have the Basics

Some colours are just essential to anyone’s nail polish collection, and those are the basic colours. White and black are good ones to have, and you can use these to create patterns with any other colour. Like I mentioned earlier, red is also important for me, but you will find you own other necessary colour or colours, depending on your own colour scheme.

Stick to Your Budget

I’m a poor student, so I only buy nail polish when it’s on special or is a non-expensive brand. There’s nothing wrong with doing that. I save some money and still manage to keep my nails looking good. I find plenty of decent quality nail polish, and if it’s a bit too watery or too faded, I just do multiple layers. I also can’t afford to buy things like a clear coat to go over the top of the nail polish or any other nail care products like that, but to be honest, I don’t need them. My nails are healthy, and my nail polish can last quite a while without being too chipped. Besides, the chipped look can actually look cool. The point is, don’t worry about the extra things if you can’t afford it. No one is going to judge you because you’re not wearing the most expensive nail polish.

I hope you try at least one of these tips, and hopefully it will lead you to having a better experience with nail polish. Get creative and have fun!
