DIY Lip Balm

This is a quick, inexpensive recipe for lip balm that you can easily customize to your preferences. I usually keep a container of this in my purse just in case I forget to bring my usual lip balm or lose it (which I have a terrible tendency to do). I’ve also used this recipe to make lip balm to include in goodie bags for my friends, and I’ve made this lip balm for my friend’s daughter, who happens to love to play with lip balm for some reason.

For this lip balm, all you’ll need is a packet of Kool-Aid, a cup of Vaseline, and a small container to put the finished product in. You can buy little lip balm containers for ridiculously cheap at any dollar store.

Step One

To start off, you need to melt the Vaseline in the microwave until it turns to a liquid. The amount of time it takes really depends on the wattage and age of the microwave, so it’s always a good idea to keep a watch on it to avoid any awkward spills or messes.

Step Two

Once the liquid petroleum jelly has cooled off a little, stir in the packet of Kool-Aid. I’m sure any other powdered drink mixture would work just as well, so feel free to play around with that aspect and come up with some crazy flavors for your lip balm.

Step Three

While it’s still a liquid, pour the mixture into a lip balm container and allow it to set until it solidifies again.
