Beach Beauty Daytime Makeup

I bought this makeup palette on an impulse a couple weeks ago while I was picking up some necessities at Target, and I feel like it’s a great, inexpensive way to experiment with color, play around, and see what colors work well for you. Though the palette is only $6 (it can be found at Target stores and on e.l.f.’s website), the makeup isn’t poor quality, and this is one of the main reasons I’m a huge fan of e.l.f. palettes. The only downside to this and other e.l.f. palettes is that, after a few uses, they tend to get really messy.

E.l.f. offers two Beach Beauty palettes: one for day and one for night. As you can see here, the palettes look very similar, so be sure to read the packaging to make sure you’re getting the one you want. I have both palettes, but for today’s tutorial, I’ll be using the daytime palette.

As a foreword, I’d have to say that, if I were using this palette to do my makeup on a regular basis, I would definitely make some substitutions and incorporate shades from other palettes, but for the sake of this tutorial, I’m just sticking to the Beach Beauty set.

Look One

As seen in this photo (I did this look on the right eye and left the left eye plain), this look is a very natural hint of color.

  1. Even though this palette has two blushes and two bronzers, for all the looks, I stuck to the same blush and bronzer combination. Starting off with your usual foundation and concealer routine, apply the peachy blush to the apples of your cheeks and blend back towards your temples.
  2. Next, using the matte bronzer that’s right next door to the peach blush, apply bronzer to the areas of your face that generally get the most sun exposure (nose, forehead, cheeks) and lightly spread the bronzer outward from those locations to get the most natural look.
  3. For the eyeshadow, we’ll be using the first column of hues first. First, use the most vibrant shimmery coral shadow (the last shadow in the first column) as a base, sweeping this color all over your lid.
  4. Next, use the lighter shimmery coral shadow (the second shadow from the top of the first column) as a highlighter, applying the color to your brow bones and the inner corner of your eyes.
  5. Finish off with a dark brown liner and mascara, and here’s what the finished product should look like.

Look Two

This look is also very subtle and natural looking, and it’s incredibly similar to the first look, but the shadows used in this look are matte and a tad bit lighter.

  1. Using the matte coral hue (the third from the top) as a base, apply this color all over your lid.
  2. Next, use the first color in the column as a highlighter and apply this color to your brow bones and the inner corner of your eyes.
  3. Finish off your eyes with a dark brown liner and mascara.
  4. For the lips, apply the hot pink lip color (the bottom lip color in the first column) to your lips using your fingers. Here’s how the finished product should look.

Look Three

  1. Using the same base color as you did in the previous look (the matte coral tone in the first column), apply this color all over your lid.
  2. Next, use the matte cream color (the top color in the first column) as a highlighter, applying the color to your brow bone and inner corner of your eyes.
  3. Taking the golden brown from the second column (the third color in the second column), use a crease brush to apply this color into your creases for added definition.
  4. Finish off your eyes with a dark brown liner and mascara.
  5. For your lips, use the second lip color in the second column and apply it to your lips with your fingers for a touch of subdued color. Here’s how it looks in the end!

Look Four

  1. In this eyeshadow combination, the yellow hue (the second color in the second column) will serve as the base. Apply this color all over your lid.
  2. Next, sweep the golden brown color (the third shadow in the second column), over the yellow hue across your lid for more dimension.
  3. Now, layer the top color in the second column and the yellow hue you used as a base on your brow bone. Apply only the top color in the column in the corner of your eyes.
  4. Using the bottom shadow in the second column as your crease color, apply this color into your crease using a crease brush.
  5. Apply eyeliner and mascara.
  6. To finish off the look, apply the same lip shade used in the previous look to your lips.

Look Five

This is probably the most complicated look in this tutorial, if only because the turquoise shades are so vibrant in this palette that, unless you layer with other shadows, it looks like too much for daytime.

  1. Use the top turquoise shade in the fourth column as your base, applying it all over your lid and brow bone.
  2. Next, layer the second turquoise color in the column all over your lid.
  3. Moving up to your brow bone, layer the top color in the second column over the turquoise color to help soften it.
  4. Moving back to your lid, layer the golden brown color (the third hue in the second column) over the turquoise to tone the color down so it isn’t so bright.
  5. Finally, add the second color in the first column to the inner corner of your eyes.
  6. Line your lower lashline with a dark brown liner and apply a couple coats of mascara. Here’s what the end result looks like!
