Ombre Nails

Everyone loves the ombre style, right? The slow fading of one color to another. You can find it almost anywhere. On clothes, on curtains, phone cases, makeup, hair. You name it, it could probably be ombred. So why don't we ombre our nails. It's pretty simple. Here's how.

What You Need:

  • A Light Nail Polish
  • A Darker Nail Polish
  • Top Coat
  • Q-Tips
  • Nail Polish Remover
  • Two Triangle Makeup Sponges
  • Paper Towel

Example

Step One:

Lay a paper towel down on a table and use it as your work space. Place your hand on the paper towel and start by apply the lighter colored nail polish to your nails and let dry. If the polish seems too light, you can apply another thin coat.

Step Two:

When the first and/or second coat has dried, take the darker color and paint a thin layer onto the small end of one of the triangle makeup sponge. Pat the sponge lightly on top of your nail, as if you were doing a French manicure. Do this to all 10 nails.

Step Three:

When finished applying the darker shade of polish to the tips of your finger nails, take the other makeup sponge and paint a thin layer of the lighter nail polish and apply a thin layer to the small end of the sponge. Lightly pat the sponge from the bottom of your nail, by the cuticle, to the bottom of the darker color. Patting even lighter than you did before; slowly move from the bottom of the dark color to the top of your nail. This will blend the colors slightly for an even ombre look.

Step Four:

Apply the top coat to your nails. This will make your nails shiny and it will help protect the polish from chipping. As that dries, take a Q-Tip and dip it into the nail polish remover, lightly any nail polish on your skin. And you're done!
