Food Coloring=Hair Dye

The other day, I found that I was extremely bored. What better to do when you're bored than dye your hair?! I've seen tutorials on Pinterest and Youtube using pastel chalks and regular chalk... none of which I had. However, I did have food coloring! My experiment driven by boredom turned out to be an easy and effective way to add fun colors to your hair.

**This method works extremely well on light hair. My hair is dark brown, so the blue turned out more navy. My cousin's hair is a golden-blonde color, and the blue turned out... BLUE.

What You'll Need: food dye in whatever color you'd like, gloves (or sandwich bags if you're like me...), a hair dryer (optional), and a flat iron or curling iron.

1. Take the section of hair you want to dye, and tie the remaining hair back out of the way.

2. Dampen the section of hair with water.

3. Put your gloves on and begin applying the food dye to the damp bit of hair; work it through the hair until it's all evenly coated.

4. Dry the section of hair with a hair dryer, or let it air dry.

5. Use your flat iron or curling iron to seal in the color.

*On dark hair, the color will last until the next wash. On light hair, it will last through a couple of washes, but will fade quite a bit after the first wash.

Have Fun!
