Hello! Hello! I feel as if you could of gone into a lot more depth. Coming from someone who is also heavily pierced (over 12 and this does not count my ears, my newest being a tongue frenulum web piercing.) I think you did touch upon the importance of a salt-water mix, but there are other ways forms of aftercare. Perhaps not only on the face but hips, genitalia, breasts, as @WRC was saying, their future wrist piercings.

They're also different forms of piercings. Surface, oral, dermals etc. Different techniques. The list goes on!
I don't want this to come off as bashing or anything negative in the way. I feel as if you aren't fully informed on the topic, I am not doubting your intelligence nor the truth of the piercings you have.

When I got my septum done, I was told to clean it twice a day with a sea salt and war water mixture. I hope that answered your question!! Or, use some unscented antibacterial soap if you are more prone to infections.

Every piercer I've ever had said to use generic contact solution to clean piercings. Correct or incorrect? I just got my septum pierced last Friday.

Okay, so I do agree the warm water with some sea salt, twice a day, because that is what my mom had me do, despite the piercer telling me not to. It felt amazing. (Except for the time there was too much salt. That BURNS.) I know with my belly button, I would do that, and then shower everyday, and while in the shower, I would soap up my hands real good with a bar of Dove body soap, and clean it. It healed so quickly! But don't put any antibiotic ointments. My neighbor did that and it caused the skin to try and heal around the piercing to the point where her skin would have been stuck to the metal. (She never listened...) Anyway, moving the piercing is also a good idea, as this keeps the skin from sticking to the piercing. Like when you get your ears pierced and you turn the earrings all the time, same concept.

Actually if you have the septum you don't want to clean it more than twice a day, it will dry out your nose and hurt it pretty bad. The septum only takes about 2 weeks to heal enough for you to be able to change it without worry of hurting your piercing and honestly most people I know and myself included who have gotten it done, it only took 3 to 4 months for it to heal completely. And for other piercings do not, do not clean it more than twice with the sea salt. IT WILL DRY OUT YOUR PIERCING. every piercer I know says the same, no more then twice a day. You also want to make sure you clean it with antibacterial non scented soap, the soap out of a bottle not bar. Just saying.

I could only imagine how troublesome a septum would be, especially since I'm pretty sensitive in that area, lol.

    @ Bonkers.
I agree!! I think I'll add what could happen if you neglect to clean your piercings. My septum was what gave me the most problems, it was horrible!

I think the hardest piercing for me to clean was the vertical labret I had. Ugh, moving the bar around hurt because it was curved. Loved it though. This would be very helpful to those that don't clean their piercing and those who think just holding their face under running water would help. I would actually suggest adding more warning like what can happen if you don't take care of your piercing. I've tried to warn my cousin's friend about the risks of not taking proper care, but of course, I was ignored.
