Triple Chocolate Jaffa Brownies

Preparation Time- 20 minutes
Cooking Time- 45 minutes
Makes 25 Pieces

 

 

Ingredients

  • 125 g (1/2 cup) unsalted butter
  • 350 g (2 1/2 cups) roughly chopped dark chocolate
  • 185g (1 cup) of soft brown sugar
  • 3 eggs, at room temp.
  • 2 teaspoons of orange zest or flavoring (this part can be removed if you don't like oranges)
  • 125 g (1 cup) of plain (all purpose) flour
  • 30 g (1/4 cup) of unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 100 g of milk chocolate
  • 100g of white chocolate

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 180 Celsius (350 Fahrenheit/Gas 4)
  2. Lightly grease a 23 cm (9 inch) square cake tin and line with baking paper, leaving the paper hanging over on two opposite sides
  3. Place the butter and 250 g (1 2/3 cups) of dark chocolate in a heatproof bowl. You can either melt it in a microwave for 1 minute intervals stirring in between until fully melted, or melting it over a boiling saucepan.
  4. Beat together the eggs, sugar and zest/flavoring until thick and fluffy. Fold it into the melted chocolate mixture.
  5.  Sift together the cocoa and flour and then stir into chocolate mixture.
  6. Stir in the remaining dark chocolate and all of the chocolate bits.
  7. Spead into the tin and bake for 40 minutes, or until just cooked.
  8. Cool in the tin before lifting out using the paper as handles.
  9. Cut into squares to serve.
  10. Enjoy!
