Cheez-it Burgers

I generally don’t measure my ingredients when I’m cooking because I’m trying to make things quick, and I have a good idea about how much of an ingredient I should use to get the taste I want. So I’ll guesstimate, and discretion can be applied to this recipe depending on your taste.

(Servings: 3)

Prep

You’re going to need a small bowl and a nonstick skillet. It’ll also help to use paper towels under the plate you put the burgers on to soak up some of that excess fat.

Side note: When I pick beef, I actually do like 90/10 (90% beef, 10% fat) because it looks more red and attractive and isn’t filled with fat. But most people prefer 80/20 to get good flavor but I don’t like how much grease is left over. I wouldn’t recommend 75/25 because then your burgers will be soaking in fat.

Ingredients

  • ½ pound of ground beef
  • 25 to 30 squares of Cheez-Its (you can add more if you like)
  • 1 tablespoon of parmesan cheese
  • ½ teaspoon of garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon of onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon of pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon of salt
  • 1 egg

Directions

  1. Heat skillet on medium high heat. Make sure that the pan doesn’t get too hot and begins smoking.
  2. In the bowl, lightly crush Cheez-Its with a fork. After you crush it to the desired consistency, add in ground beef.
  3. Mix in the Cheez-Its well then push the mix to the side of the bowl. Add the egg in the empty space and lightly beat it. Mix in the mixture until no yoke is visible and the beef has a sticky consistency.
  4. Add in the garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and parmesan cheese and mix well.
  5. If you don’t want to touch the beef (because a lot of fat tends to get on your hands) use the fork and mold the burgers the way you want on a finished surface plate (not a paper plate)
  6. Put each burger on the hot skillet and let them cook for five minutes on each side or until brown. I suggest you place the burgers on a ceramic or glass plate lined with paper towel to get rid of the excess grease.
  7. Serve and enjoy.
