Sugar Cookies

I love sugar cookies. I make them a lot. Probably more than I should, but what can I say. They're yummy. Here is the recipe that I use to make them.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/3 cups and 1 tsp of all-purpose flour.
  • 1/2 tsp of baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp of baking powder
  • 1/2 cups of softened butter
  • 3/4 cup of sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 tsp of vanilla extract

Note: This makes two dozen cookies. For twice the amount of cookies, just double the ingredients.

Procedure

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  2. In a small bowl, stir together the flour, baking soda, and the baking powder. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until it is smooth. Beat in the egg and vanilla.
  4. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients.
  5. Roll rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into balls and place onto an ungreased cookie sheet.
  6. Bake 8 to 10 minutes in the oven or until golden color.
  7. Let the cookies cool for two minutes before removing them to cool on a wire rack. (A plate is fine.)

These cookies are great for any day of the year. Enjoy.
