Spaghetti Bolognese

This is a simple and delicious dish, and has a lot of leeway for you to customise it yourself. Ingredients are to serve four.

Ingredients

  • 500 grams of beef mince
  • One can of diced tomatoes (or fresh ones!) – for a stronger taste you can add some pasta sauce too
  • One onion
  • Two white button mushrooms
  • Your selection of other vegetables (for example, one leek leaf, half a carrot, a head of cauliflower), depending on what is in season and what you like
  • Seasoning, including pepper, herbs and grated cheese to sprinkle on top afterwards (optional)
  • 500 grams of spaghetti
  • Red wine (optional, amount variable)

Method

  1. Brown the mince in a pan with some oil, and as you do so, use your cooking tool to break it up into really small chunks.
  2. Add finely chopped onion and let it cook for a minute.
  3. Add other vegetables that are also cut up relatively small and let it cook for about five minutes, regularly stirring it.
  4. Once the vegetables are tender, add in some red wine to taste. After stirring it in, pour in the tomatoes and the pasta sauce, mix well, and then let it simmer for fifteen minutes. Stir occasionally.
  5. Cook the spaghetti while the meat is simmering.
  6. Serve the spaghetti and then the Bolognese on top. Sprinkle on any toppings to taste, et voila! A fantastic meal!
