Hot Chocolate Brownie in a Mug

This gooey, chocolately treat is perfect for those evenings when you're craving a brownie but don't want to make a full pan. It's really simple and absolutely delicious!

Ingredients:

  • 6 tbsp of hot chocolate mix (I use Great Value from Walmart)
  • 1 1/2 tbsp of French vanilla cappuccino mix (again, Great Value works really well)
  • 4 tbsp of all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp of vanilla extract
  • a dash of salt
  • 2 tbsp of Canola oil
  • 3 tbsp of water
  • [Optional] chocolate chips

Directions:

  1. Get out your mug and make sure it's of standard size. A smaller mug may not work. Mix together your hot chocolate mix, French vanilla mix, flour and salt in the mug.
  2. Add the vanilla extract, water, and Canola oil. Mix it all together very well and make sure there are no little pieces of flour floating about. You can also stir in your chocolate chips at this point, should you choose to use them (I can assure you that it's delicious without them).
  3. Cook your mixture in a microwave. If you want a gooey brownie, cook it for about one minute and thirty seconds. If you want more of a firm brownie, cook it for about two minutes and fifteen seconds.

Notes:

  • This goes without saying, but be very careful when you take the mug out of the microwave! It'll be very hot.
  • When cooking, keep a close eye on it. Mine tends to try and bubble over every once in a while. Just stop the microwave for a few seconds to let it simmer back down, then finish out the remaining time.
