Perfect Pie Crusts

Everyone is always looking for the perfect pie crusts, especially people who love to make them homemade. Pie crusts are always hard to find a good recipe because of how temperamental they can be. Here is a recipe to make the perfect pie crusts for all of those pies and for everyday baking. This recipe yields four pie crusts so you can make the crusts and store them in the fridge afterward. The many times that I have made these pie crusts, they have turned out amazingly. I haven't had a problem with how they had turned out or even the dough. They rolled out perfectly and were a breeze to use. You have to make sure that you flour the rolling pin, otherwise the dough will stick.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups flour
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 ¾ cup shortening (Crisco; regular or butter-flavor)
  • 1 tbsp vinegar
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ cup water

Directions

  1. Mix flour, sugar and salt in large bowl
  2. Add shortening and mix with fork until crumbly
  3. In small bowl beat egg, water and vinegar
  4. Combine both mixtures until moistened
  5. Divide into four equal portions
  6. Shape into flat rounds and wrap in plastic wrap
  7. Chill; can be refrigerated three days or frozen
  8. Bake according to pie directions
