Brownie in a Mug

A brownie in a mug is as simple as what the title suggests. It's a brownie in a mug, but it doesn't take the time that a normal brownie does. It's easy to make, with simple ingredients, and is well worth the few minutes you put into making it!

Ingredients Needed

  • Two tablespoons of butter.
  • Two tablespoons of water.
  • A dash of salt.
  • 1/4 to 1 teaspoon of vanilla essence, depending on your preference.
  • Two tablespoons of cocoa powder.
  • Four tablespoons of sugar.
  • Four tablespoons of plain flour.

Method

  1. In the mug, melt the butter until it has fully melted, then add water, salt and vanilla essence, mixing well.
  2. Add cocoa powder, stirring well with a teaspoon, until it is fully mixed.
  3. Add sugar, until thickened and fully mixed. Look carefully at the mixture to ascertain whether it is thick enough, and taste to see if it is sweet enough.
  4. Add flour. This results in a thicker mix, so don't be worried when it gets harder to mix.
  5. The brownie mix is now done, so all that's left to do is to cook it in the microwave.

The amount of time you set the microwave to cook it affects how the brownie is cooked. If you're like me and you like your brownies to be gooey at the bottom, set the microwave time to 45 - 50 seconds. If you like your brownie to be fully baked, set it to a full minute. I also like to top my brownie with chocolate fudge sauce, but it's equally as good with icing sugar or strawberries on top. Try anything!

One last tip! When you're done eating your delicious brownie, soak the mug in hot water to get the baked-on brownie left-overs to come off easier when you clean it.

Enjoy your simple, easy to make brownie in a mug!
