Peanut Punch

Peanut Punch isn't a popular food, but a popular drink in Trinidad. If you grew up in a Trinidadian household, you probably cherished the days when your mother made this quick treat.

Peanut Punch is, essentially, a peanut butter smoothy/shake, made with peanut butter, milk, and sugar. Because it's high in both fat, protein, and sugar, it's definitely something that should be drank as an occasional treat. It's smooth, creamy, and filled with flavor, and here's how you make it.

Ingredients

[two servings]
  • 2 cups of milk *
  • 2 heaping tablespoons of smooth/creamy peanut butter (not chunky)
  • 1/3 cup of granulated, white sugar

* You can use any milk - whole, skim, etc. Milk alternatives, like almond milk or soy milk, can also be used - though the Peanut Punch might end up a little thicker.

How To

  1. In a blender, add 2 cups of milk, 2 heaping tablespoons of creamy peanut butter, and 1/3 cup of granulated sugar.
  2. Blend on the highest setting until the punch is smooth and well-blended.
  3. Pour into a glass or mug over ice.
  4. Serve and drink with a straw.

Other Stuff

I usually make two servings. You can either share with a friend or put the remainder in a cup/bottle with a lid and refrigerate. When you're ready, give it a little mix with a spoon or straw (because it'll get foamy when you let it sit) and you're good to drink.

If you want to make one serving:

  • 1 cup of milk
  • 1 heaping tablespoon of peanut butter
  • 2 tablespoons and 2 teaspoons of sugar (1/6th of a cup)

If you're sugar sensitive, you can blend the milk and peanut punch first and then slowly add in sugar until it reaches a sweetness you like.
