Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies
This cookies recipe has been passed down in my family for generations. Almost every woman in my family knows it by heart and it’s a staple dessert whenever I visit grandparents or if they come to visit me. This recipe is very easy to follow and makes delicious, soft cookies!
What You Need:
- 1 cup of brown sugar
- 1/2 cup of butter (or margarine)
- 1 large egg (or 2 medium)
- 1/4 cup of white sugar
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla
- 1 teaspoon of baking powder
- 1 cup of flour
- 1 cup of chocolate chips
What You Do:
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Cream together the brown sugar, butter (or margarine) and egg(s) with a wooden (or plastic) spoon. The mixture shouldn’t be lumpy, sometimes it takes a few minutes of mixing before the butter is fully combined with the other ingredients.
- Add the white sugar, vanilla and baking powder to the mixture. Mix these ingredients in until everything has a liquid consistency and is well combined.
- Mix in the flour and chocolate chips. Make sure the flour is well combined with the rest of the dough, but don’t overmix. If the dough seems overly sticky, add a little bit more flour.
- Spray a cookie sheet with non-stick spray. Split your dough up into balls and place them on the cookie sheet. The cookies will expand quite a bit, so keep that in mind when placing the balls on the sheet.
- Bake the cookies for 9-12 minutes, depending on how dark you want them. Let the cookies cool before taking them off the cookie sheet.
