I always wrote my dialogue like a proper story.
Obviously, I got reported countless times without actually being told beforehand how to do it on this website.
I believed that because this is a writing website that the stories would be expected to be written like proper, published stories.

Wow! Thank you for this! All this time I thought I was doing it right because I did use the comma after pointing out who talked but when it came to question and explanation marks I always capitalized the next letter. Wow!

Good tutorial. However, I have a question? How do you properly break up speech? For example: "I know that I'm wrong," he muttered while staring at his feet, "but, he's wrong, too."

How do you write a sentence like that correctly? Also, am I right in assuming that the word "but" wouldn't be capitalized in that sentence?
