Indeed. But you have to see where I am coming from. That's the worst scenario to happen to the country never mind to a Prime Minister who's only been in power for three days. But he is going about the whole thing the right way. Stepping up on security and things. Makes me sleep a little sounder.

You failed to notice the cabinet reshuffle, then?
I mean, come on, the whole cabinet bar one post was reshuffled. That's a huge change to the government. Or notice all the changes with the ministerial posts. Plenty of outsiders have been brought in, which is a rather big change in itself also.

I think with the Glasgow Airport attack, these terrorists would be thinking twice. Glasgow has John Smeatton!

But back on topic, I think Brown would make a change, Iraq most liekly will be one of them; but it would be foolish to say that he should take ALL our troups out of there straight away, the country isn't stable enough to be on it's own.

And also, back on topic, I really cannot stand Gordon Brown. As a Scot I actually feel betrayed by him, in my view I do not count him as a Scotsman. He flew the flag of St George yet he didn't fly the saltire on St Andrew's day. And he goes to England matches, too support them! Even Jack McConnell didn't sink that low!

And so far he hasn't proved a really good leader. I would have no objections with him going back to being chancellor, its the one area where his Scottishness comes through, being tight with the money hahaha! But that is what we need with the financial state the way it is

I don't think Brown has really made much of a difference.

I preferred Blair.
But thats mostly cause I don't know a lot about Brown.

If Gordan manages to do better than Tony then I'll gladly accept him as PM.
But at the minute I can't really see if he's made any difference other than babble on. (:

And hearing them both talk about their little power agreement makes me sick how can it be like "Well I'll get the first go then quite thats when you'll come in". -___-

Yet at the time, everyone was so full of praise for how Brown handled the terrorist attacks. Funny how fickle public opinion is.

Sadly, I think Brown's condition is terminal. He's suffered defeat after defeat and I just don't see how there is a way to turn the situation around. Particularly after Glasgow East, which was a rock-solid seat for Labour. To me, it seems like a shame that he's been waiting to be Prime Minister for 10 years and now he's in, he barely stands a chance of winning a second term.
Even if Labour do force him out and elect a new leader (and the only likely candidate seems to be David Miliband), the prospect of a Tory government seems inevitable. And David Cameron as the next Prime Minister? No thanks. He may be charismatic, and I don't think his policies are as insubstantial as some make out, but they are still the Conservative party and although they may have had a bit of an image change, after a year in power we'll all be moaning about 'the same old tories'.

But I get you about the tories no one really trusts them after Thacher but you get sick of lame duck prime ministers and you do get a few of them.

What's the point of voting anyway. I mean, they make promises and when they do come to power all of it's forgotten about and their personal agenda is fixed up.

Ideologically, the point of the Labour party is to help close the gap between the rich and the poor, or at least to provide more help for those who suffer from poverty. Unemployment was reduced under Tony Blair, as so has child poverty (to an extent). Whilst more recent policies such as scrapping the 10p rate of tax don't exactly show an overt concern for the poor, it isn't really fair to say that the Labour party believes in 'rich for the rich' and that everyone else is irrelevant.

I agree that turnout in Britain is poor. 61% isn't enough, but it isn't as though nobody is voting at all. And although at the end of the day the next government will be either Labour or Conservative, Britain isn't America and we don't have a two-party system. There are still the Liberal Democrats, after all, and a myriad of smaller parties. The success of independent candidates at the last General Election also shows that there are alternatives.
