Rule number 7:

Quote
7. Making hate comments about a band, person, website et cetera is not allowed. If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.

http://www.mibba.com/forums/topic/1121/

I know it can be really hard to refrain from talking about how much you think band A, B or C suck or how X, Y and Z are sellouts, but please, don't. This rule against hate comments is here so that big arguments don't start and people don't get upset over anything.

I agree...

I'd like to suggest that it be strongly reminded again to make sure people search for existing band/movie/game/show/ thread. I'm just sayin. Smile

it makes sense that you shouldn't post hate comments, god only knows how those things end up.
but- isn't a little unfair, true- you dont like a band, just shut up about it.
but arent the forums about our opinons in the first place?

^ Yeah they are about our opinions, and it's fine to say we don't like a band. It's ok to go into a thread and say "I don't like this band." and then just stay away from that thread. Though the only reason for that would be to increase your post count. But don't keep going into that thread and bashing the band and the fans of that band.

A while ago some user "Faux Elitist" or something like that, she got banned permanently (if I recall right) for going into band threads and repeatedly bashing the bands and their fans. More particularily I remember her bashing Aiden, and also this one MCR fan who said she didn't really like The Black Parade, and she was starting arguments in the threads, and she ended up getting a permanent ban from mibba because of it

Are we allowed to state our opinions thou? Without being mean about it, or no? Since it could start an argument? Shifty

You're allowed to state your opinions nicely, as far as I know, but if you're just looking to get into a fight, or just to get your post count up, etc, I wouldn't bother.

true.
i think it's a good rule of thumb, anyways.
"don't post something in the thread if you don't like the band". probably one of the most sensible things in the world of forum posting.

Ah, if only people would actually follow this rule, the Mibba world would be an even better place.

I think it does come down to how you say it though.
I'm discussing TH right now, and I've stated my opinion that I like them, but I think it's a bit scary that Bill looks more like a girl then me...
But I'm actually having a good discussion with the fans there, it's not like "yo, Bill is ugly!" and they're not like "yo, die!"

If you say it in a sensible way, there's not even going to be an argument, because everyone can accept that, oh she doesn't like the singer, or oh, she doesn't like the drummer, as long as you don't bash them.

i agree. what ever happened to 'fair play'? saying that one band is better than another, doesn'y mean that you're right. everyone is entitled to an opinion, but some like to put it up and cause arguments.

Thanks SheLOVES You!

But, seriously. No one follows this rule. As much as it is enforced, its never followed.

Half the rules on here aren't followed, actually. Well, from what I've noticed. But, this isn't the thread for that.

I just wish people would respect other's opinions. And respect that by saying something in a very nasty way isn't doing just that. Why is that so hard to ask? I mean, what kind of IDIOT starts a random journal bashing a band, when he/she knows how many fans there are?

I mean, DUH! Sorry, but you set yourself up for a report right there.

EDIT : Sorry, I'm not very good with the quoting. It said I was making a Pyramid Quote and I have no idea how to do it the correct way.
