Children see more skin in advertisements on television than they do in Miley Cyrus' photos Coffee

Good point, but the amount of skin isn't the problem in Cyrus's case.

For some people, it is a problem actually (not me, though). Some people on this thread seem to think showing one's back is inappropriate for children Neutral

I've taken pictures extremely similar to those pictures on her MySpace.
Although some of them I was in a bra. They're MySpace pictures for Christ's sake...

It's a misfortune for the celebs but in my mind it would have never happened if they had never taken the pictures in the first place. So they shouldn't go calling it a mistake. It's their fault! I can definately ruin a career as it can also make it bigger. But for most it ruins it.

There's no nudity. It doesn't matter if she's a minor. There's no nudity. And they're not really sexually explicit either. She's lifting her shirt up. You can't even see the curve of her breasts. Her legs are showing.

You can see more on twelve-year-olds at the mall.

It just messes them up in the long run.

To be perfectly honest I was very shocked at hearing HSM star, Vanessa Hudgens had one on the internet. I was downright appaled in a way...

It's natural though..sort of. But what about those innocent 7 yr olds that look her up for pictures coz they adore her or something and it comes up with her nude?!

And yes, I have looked up Pete Wentz. tehe I laughed at it for ages. Still makes me chuckle. Wow, I'm being a little hypocritical here, eh?

How do nude pictures "mess someone up"?

I think she means of the reputation they gain... when and if the photos are actually found (which they usually are) the media often rips them apart.

That doesn't seem to be happening for most of them.
Their careers are still doing absolutely fine.
If the media ripped them apart, they wouldn't be working anymore.

i think that celeb pics r kinda disturbing.. i mean, me and my friend looked up Pete Wentz, not expecting what we saw..
that was a bad day..
anyway...

they shouldnt really do it. i think its just. ew. although, i guess that its a matter of preferance, isnt it. some think its okay, others think its wrong. at the world youth day there were apparently advertisments with bikini-clad nuns [young ones!!] and a calendar of 'attracting priests'. Isnt that something they say is wrong? Adultery? Who knows...

You know what, I don't really give a crap.
If they want to take nude pictures of themselves, that's their choice and it's their own personal lives anyway. But they should think about the risk of it getting out, and also (if there's anyone else involved) the harm it can cause to others.

There was this scandal over here a few months ago, a local popstar had A LOT of photos leaked from his computer that were naked pictures of him and most major pop stars in this town. It damaged a lot of reputations, so.. yeah. Gotta be careful.

I know it doesn't destroy their careers.

The media rips apart the idea of them taking those photos - it becomes published everywhere. That's what I mean. I didn't mean the media rips the actual celebrities apart and destroys them.

The reason I think it's a big deal for these stars to show alot of skin is because little girls idolize them and will follow what they do. They're practically role models.

I personally wouldn't mind seeing the Pete Wentz photo. tehe

As for Vanessa Hudgens and the rest of those celebs: If you take the picture, it's going to get out there, whether it's "accidentally" or not. I put quotation marks around accidentally because there's no way to be certain it's an accident. People talked more about her directly after the incident than they did before. Yes, her career was in jeopardy, but she's more well-known now. Her name's more out there, and that's the way it was/is with many "celebs".

But they must be pretty confident to do so. Shifty

I don't really mind about the Pete Wentz one, I just googled him in art and started screaming "Oh my! I can see Pete's 'you-know-what'" and then started giggling like an idiot. Needless to say my teacher came over, but anyway, the whole Vanessa thing... well, she works with children, well kids look up to her a lot, and surely she would be fully aware of the consequences posing naked would be but you know, each to their own. If you want to show people your bejingo then show people your bejingo, it's not gonna affect me at all.

I've seen a lot of those types of pictures by accident.

I was with a friend and we typed in "Pete Wentz" on google (it was before I knew about it) and suddenly...there "it" was. At first I thought it was fake, then later I found out it was VERY MUCH real...hehe. Didn't bother me much, though...it's natural stuff. But seeing it so unexpectedly was...odd.

I found the Miley Cyrus and Vanessa pictures the same way.

Again, really odd.
