I just got back from seeing it. Anyone else see it yet?

I thought it was weird, though I didn't like how it was filmed. It made me dizzy.

But other than that, I thought it was a good movie. It was weird, and the end, and a couple other parts confused me a little, but meh, I still liked it.

I saw it yesterday at opening time. {It was my birthday.}
I thought it was awesome.
I loved how it was filmed, especially because it makes you feel so much more like you're right there.
It was kind of bittersweet.

{What parts confused you?}

SAW IT TONIGHT!

I loved it. I don't know why but the hand held camera never bothered me, but everyone else who saw it with me complained that it made them dizzy. I thought it added such good effect.

and the monster was BRILLIANT. Oh my God, the graphics for it were so good...

I also loved the ending. I mean, at the beginning of the movie they say the government found the tape so you know that none of the characters survived. I knew that from the start! So I was satisfied with the ending.

I agree, though at some points the camera shaking and stuff made me dizzy.

What confused me kinda was why they would show the guy and the girl. at like the carnival and stuff, like a month before. I mean I can kinda understand what they mean sorta, but it's kinda like Why did they do it.

And the end bugged me, did they kill the monster or no? Cheese
The post above just answered that. Because if the government found the tape, that means they went back to that area, meaning the monster was most likely dead.

I don't understand the "Cloverfield" thing though.

Though I thought that monster was creepy, like a giant sea creature or something

Okay, I gotcha. You probably just didn't catch this part.
The part with Rob and Beth in the beginning, them at Coney Island and then them at the end, was what was on the tape in Rob's video camera originally.
At the party, after Rob sees Beth come in with Travis, he asks Hud if the camera Hud has is his {Rob's.} After Hud says yes, Rob asks Hud if he changed the tape because there was already a tape in the camera. Hud says no and Rob gets somewhat dejected. After Hud asks Rob why, Rob tells him it's nothing.
The movie, Cloverfield, is the entire tape that was in the video camera, so Rob and Beth parts are what didn't get taped over.

Okay, in regards to the title.
Since it's property of the government, a file/document, they gave it the code name, "Cloverfield."

Let me know if you need anymore clarification.

I actually saw a warning at a movie theater about if you experience motion sickness that this movie may not be appropriate to view

or something lke

"Due to the filming process of "Cloverfield" we warn that some viewers may experience motion sickness like on a roller coaster"

something like that. I looked at it like "Shocked"

I thought it was so much better than the Blair Witch Project.
I think the viewing of the BWP was definitely easier on the eyes {not so much jumpiness with the camera, as I recall.}
I just thought Cloverfield was freaking awesome.

I've heard a number of people {on message boards and a few in person} mention the motion-sickness thing, but I myself didn't experience it.
I think if you try to focus too much on the images, it can occur.

I never felt sick while watching it, but mainly the people that do get motion sickness easily probably will. This one kid I work with wants to see it, and he even asked me "Is it really jumpy with the camera? like will I get motion sickness?" I was like "Depends, yes it does get jumpy at parts though." I didn't get motion sickness, but the jumpy stuff did kinda give me a headache

I saw this movie with a friend, and i freaking loved it! It was so good. The only part about it i really didn't like was that there was never a clear shot of the actual monster.
But still..i really really loved it!

I loved Cloverfield. Although the cinamatography was similar to The Blair Witch Project, it was used in a much better way. I remember for the Blair Witch Project wondering why the fuck they gave that asshole the camera. Cloverfield used the hand-held camera style of filming very effectively I thought. And the dialouge was very natural. There was only one line in the whole movie that felt unnatural, "What ever it is, it's winning." Also, the monster was amazing. You got to see enough of it to know what it looks like, but not too much. Another thing I loved about this movie was that I actually cared about the characters. They were all really relateable and I wanted them to succeed. Overall, it was a great movie that lived up to the hype.

I loved it, and it did make me dizzy, but it was a very good idea.

What left me a big weirded out. Yes, I understood the end, but it ended so weirdly (without music, even) and people in the theater were still sitting down when the names came up and one asked the guy working there; "Hey...Uh-is it over?" and the guy went; "Uh-yes,sir..."
Haha, but apart from that, the movie was really good. I enjoyed it.

I really liked the lack of music during the credits. It made it feel more real.

Saw it today and absolutely loved it. Had to shut my eyes at one point because of the camerawork but I wouldn't have changed it. It made the film more real, you felt a part of it. As if you were Hud or whatever his name was.

I loved the ending, really well thought out and quite poetic in a way. But the ending did leave an opening for a sequel. I really hope they don't attempt one too soon; sequels are ruining movies now. They're just stuck together and are never as good as the first. My friends and I were discussing how one of the mini ones will escape the napalm - or whatever the hell the army were attempting - and make it's way to Europe. Just to put a spin on things. It grows bigger and starts wreaking havoc in Paris! Just to watch it climb the Eiffel Tower in a King Kongish kind of way. Just an idea lol

Overall, really enjoyed it ^.^ almost started clapping 'cause I didn't know what else to do. The ending was just so gobsmacking. You don't really expect it to end there so I was absolutely overwhelmed by the whole thing coming to a close. Although the creature looked a lot like Alien...

I think a sequel doesn't have to be a continuation of the story, but a different story. Like another group of people with a camcorder, filming the same event. I think It would be a more believable sequel instead of having something miraculously surviving the military's final attempt at destroying the monster.

Edit:
What? No spoiler tags. Sad

I totally agree with you about sequels. For instance, the Pirates of the Carribean, went down hill really fast. Especially on the third one. They think that they can make them better, but normally it just gets worse.

-sigh- O well.

I like the Paris idea! Lol.
Or they could do like, a strange nessie type of monster is terrorizing Venice, Italy.
Haha, the possibilities are endless.

O.O I believe too that the ending left an opening for a sequal...for two reasons stated above

A. For a continuation of the story, IE: did they really destroy the monster or not? did the monster just start by destroying Manhattan then moved on to other states?
B. Or yeah the same movie from another point of view...
