Could God be the Sun? The Moon? Cruithne - The Second Moon? Perhaps when our ancient relatives looked at the sky, they saw a different sky than the one we see and they could have sworn they saw a hand? An eye?
Maybe Big Brother is watching us after all. |

Posts: 895 | August 13th, 2008 at 06:27am I believe in god and in his existance. It's not something that you can believe through what is written in a bible. I didn't believe in god until I actually felt him, and his presence help me through a life crisis.
Most of us follow the ten commandments because it's what is the right thing to do, but those good and right things to do on Earth is the word of god. In a sense it's a way of living a good and happy life. |

Posts: 1158 | August 14th, 2008 at 05:53am i believe in god faithfully, but not religiously. i don't believe, once again, this is my opinion, don't penalize me for this, but i believe we should have a right to pray to any gods we'd like. i believe all are one, and have the same strength and power. i don't want to be quoted on this topic to be honest, if it's for like, questions of what i believe in. i believe that what i have is god's gift and my god can be anyone. you might be thinking which god it really is that i pray to though, that can not be answered because, well i really don't realize who it is. i will admit sometimes i'll take jesus christs name though.
and my opinion on this topic in general is that there need to be rules for whoever made this topic, we don't want such a broad topic to cause arguments and rudeness. sadly, it does.
but my opinions on gos is really confusing, it isn't something i can just type our like this. but i pray. and believe, and good things have happened to me. |

There is no set figure of what can do. However the church depicts god and jesus to look a certain way, each religiosn still depicts god in a different manner. Everyone's opinion of god is different and will always remaind different. But we shouldn't fight and argue about different views of god. I think that's the only ridiculous part of religion. Trying to prove that your god is the real one and everyone elses isn't. They're all real as long as people believe in them. |

Because people will believe in anything.
Not really. There have been attempts at many different sectors of religion that have failed because people couldn't connect with it. The biggest reason believe in this is because it gives you a safety net. It gives you someone to ask for help with problems when you can't ask anyone else as well as giving you a calming idea of what is to come of the afterlife.
A lot of effort and thought went into creating religion. |

I mean, take Christianity: You're being told that you'll be rewarded for whatever good you do in life by having a place in the eternal paradise of heaven. You're being told that there is an almighty being who loves you and looks out for you who you can communicate with through the simple medium of prayer and belief.
From that perspective, you could say people may just believe because it makes sense to. Religion in itself could be the most successful psychological hoax in history. |

That and the whole deal with prayer. But...I don't know.
I say God's real.  I can't explain why.

Because the things I've read in the Bible go against what I've been taught and what my perceptions are - simple as that. I have no problem with Christians (my best friend is VERY catholic).
What I do believe in is that I can do whatever I want so long as I don't forget who I really am in the process. What god do I believe in? I don't know, when I die I think I just go back into the Earth and becom things like the wind, the rain, etc. |
