I agree with Kurtni though, he's amazing at rhetoric but it leads me to suspect that he doesn't have much substance.
I think a lot of Americans are going to end up disappointed when if he wins. They'll have high expectations that won't be filled. I'm sure he will do good things, but I sincerely dount one person can "change Washington" like he claims he will. I think its rather sad I'm so cynical about government, but it's hard not to be at this point. I hope he proves me wrong.

We have nothing else to go on without what he says he'll do, and what he has done. But... I think most people on this thread would agree that he'd be better than McCain. Shifty

My brother told me a cool thing about Obama.

After he graduated Harvard Law School, he was offered a job as a Supreme Court clerk. This is an amazing position, because it means you're one of the most brilliant new law minds, and once people leave the position, everyone wants to give them a job. But Obama declined this job to go work with the underprivileged in Chicago.

That was rather terribly put but I thought that it does show he's got the people's wellness high in his priorities.

I agree with Kurtni though, he's amazing at rhetoric but it leads me to suspect that he doesn't have much substance.

I'd be happy if he 'changes' Guantanamo Bay but he's been part of congress and done nothing, so no matter who wins the biggest humanitarian problems in world politics will still be taking place just under a new headliner.

I think we should be asking Banksy to do that. Laughing

Has he picked a VP yet? Australia has stopped telling us about any of the election in America.

Precisely. Speaking skills don't show what they could do.

Agreed.
But...speaking skills can also misinform, and charm listeners too. That's be why all politicians are generally good at it.

i think that between Barack Obama and John Mccain, i would go with barack.
Mccain is just like another bush, if he gets into office, he said ( not direct quote)
" That no matter what he does, the war in iraq will still reign, so he will do the best that he can 2 win" .
In other words, that means he 4 the war!
While if Obama is elected, He will have the troop out of iraq in less than a year!

How does it make him the next Bush with that one thing?
Would I be the next Bush if I ran for public office because I believe we should stay in Iraq? I'm sincerly doubting most would say so. I have to disagree with your point.

I also highly doubt Barack could have us out in less than a year. These things take time. Not to mention...politicians are a whole lot of talk, and less than a year sounds good to the public.

Your policy on the war effects more than just that. By supporting the war, you're also supporting sending the billions of dollars we do over to war, which certainly isn't helping the economy or oil situation any. So yes, i think it is completely fair to say "your" administration would be quite like the Bush administration.

The war is not the only contributer to the crappy state of the economy. Maybe it's a contributer. And it could be an important part...but one thing doesn't cause something this big. I'm sure of that. The war is not all there is the the administration...it appears to me that's it's probably only one of the most publicized part of the administration. It's easier to get passionately mad about a war than something like health care. Granted the war may be a big problem...but it's not the only problem. One thing doesn't make you extremely similar to an administration. I don't feel that's a fair inference.

Did I say it was the only contributor? Ah no, but it certainly is a big contributor. In addition to the economy, your stance of supporting the war will continue to damage out foreign policy relationships with countries that don't, including Iraq itself.

Not to mention that the war is not the only policy McCain and Bush share.

-cough- I never said McCain and Bush didn't share more policies. I was simply stating that one thing doesn't do everything, and it doesn't make you the next Bush. I felt like that was the idea porayed by the original post I replied to, seeing as the only reason she giving for McCain being the next Bush was the war...nothing else.

EDIT: I'd discuss my stance on the war...but I'm guessing that would be a long conversation ending up as spam. I'll keep my opinions in mny head...but I have about 30 thousand against everything that you've said. =] This is to be expected, I suppose.
