So, for all ya'll who are in England, year 11 mostly, some year 10's... we have out GCSE's coming up in 2 weeks. Fun right?

Any one doing them started revising?

Any one got any good revision tips they'd like to share?

Personally, I suck at revision. I can never do it, and I haven't started yet and I'll probably spend my study leave sitting at home watching TV.

Haha, I failed most of mine.
My RE teacher was big on all the how the mind works shit.
Things she said (I don't know if they work since I never tried them but people said they did):
You can't spend more than half an hour at a time without a break.
Reading is not revising.
Read it out loud over and over again, repeating each sentence until you think you can say it without the paper.
The next day see how much you learned the day before.

I did my oral today too... I think it went bad...

What I never get is how we're not meant to revise more than half an hor with out a break, everyone says it, yet we can sit in lessons workign with out a break for over an hour at the time. Shouldn't we get breaks then too??

Or maybe that just makes too much sense...

Oh, i'm doing some of mine early. All i can say is do a dance, when i was learning korean phrases (not for GCSEs but whatever) i kept jumping up and down repeating things and punching the ceiling. It proved to be very effective.
Try not to log into things. For example: Myspace; the source of all evil.
If you've got a new friend request ignore it and read something. meh.

I am still to learn how to do this.

I did my french oral on monday- i failed definitely and then got really angry. not the way to go.

I'm starting my GCSE's on Monday. First thing in the morning I have a maths exam.
I suck at revising and I'm worried I'm going to fail.

A little advice for the future - GCSE's are 10x easier than A Levels.... Just so you're prepared in advance and ready to work loads more than you are now. I got A*'s, A's and a few B's in my GCSE's, and I'm scraping C's now. My exams start in two weeks too, and I am yet to revise longer than an hour x]

For my GCSE's I didn't revise at all either (seriously) but I would recommend you do revise loads, because I'm a naturally smart kid so was lucky. Basically, make sure you know the stuff youre not so good at, and focus on that. Briefly look over the things you think you know - just in case. Flash cards are good for quick revision. Re-writing notes helps too :]

Good luck Cute

I did my french oral today as well.
It actually went awesome =]
For like, the past week, I've been driving myself insane about it
(Even like, made myself ill because I was so stressed. Shocked
I had the day off yesterday, but I still have a sore throat today Disgust ) and after I was finished, I was like woo!

But I did accidently say that I went to bed at 5pm haha.

Teacher: A Quelle heure a tu aller au couche?
Me: Uhhh cinq heure!

tehe

So how did it go for everyone else?

Can't agree any more with pulmonary archery. There's a huge chasm between GCSEs and A Levels, and you need to be prepared for a huge surge in workload if you do decide to carry on your education.

Revision techniques kinda depends on what sort of learner you are, so I'm told. I remember stuff by writing it down endless amounts of times. Some people do mindmaps, make tapes, things like that.

Just don't fall into the idea that you'll be able to blag your way. These are not the exams you want to flunk, because they're the baseline that most employers, colleges and sometimes universities look into. Just work hards, and then you'll know that you did your best. Cute

I agree, I remember stuff easiest by writing it down/saying it over and over again.

Nope, I was ordering an icecream and a juice and an orange juice.
Then I lost my car keys and had to call the hire firm.

eek

theres just so many subjects, I never know which I should be revising first because i'm pretty much the same in all of them

as fore the roleplay.. D: doomed, i always have to think stuff through too much before I say it..

Got Science on the 12th. Terrified of that one, actually. XD
