Age: 14 Gender: Female Posts: 4226 | I was in town yesterday and I was just thinking 'I need a job.' So at KFC there was a sign that they have positions available I asked what I needed to do to apply and they said to fill out a form and do a 30 minute test.
The test was pretty simple, it was just 'what would you do?' questions and math problems.
I really hope I get it because I havn't been able to keep up with what I spend and I should really stop relying on my parents money all the time.
The didn't say how long I would have to wait though.
Has anyone else worked in a fast food outlet? |

I liked it, and the people were cool.
My advice would be if you want the job, don't wait for them to call you. Call them, because then it shows that you're interested in the position. Be assertive, and as bad as this sounds, you might have to lie a bit. Nothing insanely bad, but like say you'renot really a people person, and they ask about it, say you are. Don't make yourself look/seem perfect, but a few white lies won't hurt. Almost everyone does it to get into jobs.
(Kinda like me answering questions so I could enlist in the navy. I kept seeing "Were you referred to a phychoogist?" or "ever attempted/had thoughts of suicide" and yes I have, but they don't need to know that.)
Good luck on the job though. |

But I worked at Mcdonalds for a bit. I hated it. I was supposed to get a raise after a certain ammount of time and I did not. They also fucked up everything and were not god at what they did. Also the place was disgusting to work at. So I quit. |

It really sucks...
So next year I'm either applying for Topshop or River Island. (: |

That sounds like a good idea. But don't do it to much, we had a kid who rang like everyday for a week. It just got to the point where we were like 'fuck off'.
I have been working at Wendy's (chain icecream store in australia) for over 2 years.
It's alright, the staff are cool, I'm a supervisor. The boss is a prick though- doesn't give a fuck about anyone/thing if it means he has to do some work. |

Age: 16 Gender: Female Posts: 18588 | I work at McDonalds. Before I turned 16 I only got 6.80 an hour because I'm still a 'trainee'. Hopefully that'll go up now that I'm 16, and then after I finish my 20 weeks or whatever of 'training' it'll go up to 8 dollars something I think.
Working in fast food is so good though because the work's not hard and they're so damn flexible... which is really useful for me with school and horse riding commitments.
Good luck, though. |

Age: - Gender: Female Posts: 1945 | Well, I worked in a hospital cafeteria for a long time, and it was alright. I couldn't be near the food without getting sick, so I either took the (covered) food to patients or worked the cash register. That's a good place to look if you want a job, hospitals actually do offer jobs to teens, plus you get the benefits of a hospital employee (insurance, vacation time, free zoo passes...well, mine gives free zoo passes, anyway)
A few months ago, I got promoted to somewhat of a doctor's assistant. I file charts, clean hospital rooms, run errands for doctors, and sometimes I can just flip my iPod on and rock a newborn baby to sleep (though, that's very rare).
I could never work at KFC, though... I'm an off and on vegetarian, but I can't even stand the sight of fried chicken...
Good luck, though! As the people above said, call and be assertive, but only call once or twice, or they'll just get annoyed with you. |

Age: 20 Gender: Male Posts: 111 | I work in marketing, so that's a far cry from fast food, but if it's anything like my experience of working there could be tasty freebies involved.
Seriously, if my work stopped paying me I might still turn up just for the doughnuts. |

Age: 20 Gender: Female Posts: 412 | The job market in Ohio royally sucks - anyone who lives here can tell you that. I probably turned in twenty or thirty applications before two of the places I applied to got back to me. I turned down Convenient (working at a deli counter when I don't eat meat...yeah, that would have turned out well) but am now working in a little retail store in a nearby town. It's not bad, when they give me enough hours. I have a summer day job at a camp, teaching kids to ride horses, so that will help give me some extra money too. |

Yeah, it is pretty difficult to get a job in Ohio, but I have connections. My mom works at the same hospital as me, so she pretty much get me into volunteering there, and I slipped right into a job when I turned 16 |

She hated it, she was "the bin girl" and had to clean up.
