Well, last week, I started a job teaching a 9 year old Japanese boy English grammar, but all I've done so far was help him with his homework. =/ I only work one hour a week, but I wanna work more, because I am a money-grabbing bitch. But, I do have the experience of tutoring and not understanding any English and I know the best tricks for learning it and stuff... But, sometimes the kid and I have understanding problems. Anyway, I want to get into the grammar stuff and actually teach him conversation, because that is what I signed up for, but so far, they've only given me his homework and told me to help him with it. I want to show my full potential so that they can give me more hours =D yes, I'm obsessed with money, but really... It's quite good. $20NZ/hour.

I tutor little kids on piano and I find the best way to make them learn notes is by using pictures and flash cards.

Maybe you could have A4 pieces of paper that have grammar hints on them. He could put them in a folder and take them home to practise. You need to take initiative and show them that you can do more than just help him with his homework. Rewards are also good to encourage them. Like smarties or something small.

So once you've done homework you could teach him a bit of something else afterwards.

I used to tutor five of my classmates in our math subject last year. I always starts during recess, then the lunch and the next recess time will be spent on my bestfriends. It was kinda fun but then my other classmate Aaron(who's also good in math), started to tutor them too. He stole them away from me. XD

Well, students in the honor roll chart are forced to tutor their classmates.
So yeah, I have no choice. XD
It's not fun, actually. Since your classmates will not listen to you and they'll make fun of you. Those ungrateful people. tehe

Then if they fail, they'll blame us. Cha. Coffee

Those are actually really good ideas, but seriously, by the time the hour's over, we've JUST finished the homework, if we manage it at all. Perhaps I could request more hours. >__<

I tutored this girl at History for a few mnoths this year.
She was ignorant and nasty.
I told her she could fail for all I cared Shifty
I'm an impatient shit at times

I then got asked to help these guys with their music theory.
One of them was really nice he was just an idiot and needed more help than I could give him.
The other to messed about and I kindly told them to not bother Shifty

I've decided tutoring isn't for me lmfao

I tutored a 10 year old boy for awhile.

He was failing at English, and that's what I'd like to major in, so, yeah, I taught him how to get A's.

I had to tutor this kid like, a year ago and it was such a pain. I would watch him and help him do the homework, yet he wouldn't turn it in. It was just so damn weird.

The bad things about tutoring is that you completely depend on the kid. My tutee, if you will, is too lazy. So he's taking a month off -.-

^That sucks. Oh well, when he comes back, tell the parents that you'd like to do more hours because you think that it would help him alot more.

I did for out of hours tutoring. But some of the stuff I done was within lessons at school because I was ahead so it was voluntary.

I tutor my friend in math, who usually becomes very frustrated and then has a mental breakdown.

She's gotten better at math, though.

I tutor people a lot, though I rarely get paid for it.

I'm currently trying to get a job at Kumon, which might be considered tutoring.

I used to tutor people, but it just annoyed me to no end when they didn't understand the simplest of things.

I go to Kumon.
I've seen the "tutor's" faces. They're always like OMFG

tutor: "HOW THE HECK DID YOU GET THIS WRONG?"
me: "I didn't learn pre-calculus yet...I'm in the 5th grade..."
tutor: "I LEARNED PRE-CALCULUS IN THE 3RD GRADE!"

stupid genius tutors.

ehh...I didn't know how I was leveled up to the pre-calculus sheets...
I'm valedictorian of my school..but I'm not that "brilliant."

the tutors always get pissed at me XD
if you do not want mental and physical anguish, please do not apply for a job at Kumon. They have long hours too. It's like 3 p.m-7 p.m.

$20 NZD isn't that good.
My friend makes $30 per half hour teaching guitar. Weird

She tutors like 3 hours on one afternoon once a week and makes heaps.

Well, it's good for me. I don't play guitar and I have no contacts for me to teach piano.
